Rapunzel is imprisoned in a satellite orbiting around Earth, which is a pretty cool twist on the fairy tale. About halfway through, I realized there was no way everything could get wrapped up by the end of the book. Now to wait patiently for #4!

Wow. This is my favorite book of the series so far!! I loved the characters, and the plot was thrilling pretty much the whole time! My husband looked at me at one point while I was reading and was like, “Um are you okay?”

It was good as a whole, but it was hard for me to get into. Excited to read the next book, and see what “the crew” has in store for Levana!

This series brings me so much joy. Even though we have 3 couples and legions of rebels risking it all to bring down the evil Queen Levana. MEYER's books are so full of light, cute, humorous, fangirly moments. Not only do they lighten the impending doom, they keep you heartedly flipping the pages through the meaty intertwining story.

Captain Thorne gets to scratch his hero itch, since Cinder is solidly pining over Kai. And Cress needs a saving. Poor thing trapped in a satellite by herself for years forced to do the evil bidding of the only human in contact with her. Her solitude has given her plenty of time to follow the buzz surrounding Thorne and fall for her Knight in Shining Armor before he even arrives. Cress's naivete and Thorne's larger than life persona and snark make for a fun-filled romantic addition to the Lunar Chronicles.

Cinder takes the reigns of her story back and directs much of the course of CRESS. When Cress's rescue separates our parties, their stories arc and puzzle pieces start to slowly fall into place. They feverishly work to get answers leading them first to Africa and then the Moon. The stage has been set and I anticipate even more action as the LUNAR CHRONICLES turns into a full scale revolution. WINTER get here soon.

I decided to wait for the audiobook, though I had a hard copy of the book. I started the series in audio and it was way more animated than anything PIXAR could have envisioned. REBECCA SOLER is back on the job in CRESS. At first, it took me a while to get back into the book. Cinder and Cress sounded similar enough that it was hard to pull their stories apart in the beginning, but it didn't take too long for the characters to get reset in my head. SOLER brings MARISSA's story and these characters to life, like no one else could. She expertly applies naivete, lightness, excitement and fierceness to our heroines. Her Iko is beyond words. It's like pop rocks to my ears, full of electric exuberance. Her males are distinct and carry their burdens audibly. Thorne brings all the swoons of Hans Solo & Captain Mal rolled into one.

This series is awesome! I loved Cinder, that's one of my favorites of all time. I've already read it two times! Scarlet wasn't really a favorite, but still a good book in this series. Cress totally tipped the scale towards awesome again! I liked it better than Scarlet, and that's why I give it 5 stars! I can't even think of any cons, now that I try to think about it...

I was reminding myself that I was reading Cress while also reading ACOWAR. I was totally blown away by ACOWAR and I'm still having a book-hangover, but this is actually a great compliment towards Marissa Meyer. I just finished my favorite book of all times, and I still loved Cress. I was so scared that I would get into a reading slump, but this book totally pulled me through. At the end of the book I was like: "YEAAAHH GIVE ME MORE BABY!!"
So ready for Winter.

I wish I knew what to say about these books that is at all coherent. I have never read any fairy tale reimagining that was as well-thought-out or as unique of an idea as these. The world building is SO good. Everything makes sense for the far future after two more world wars have devastated the earth (and even all the Lunar stuff seems less crazy while you're reading), and the characters are three dimensional and for the most part, brilliant. I can't even say I like the second book any less (because I don't care as much about Scarlet and Wolf as I do about Cinder and Cress and Thorne--my favorite character) because Cinder's story didn't end. The sequels continue the main storyline but just add Scarlet and Cress, giving them their own titles, and adding in their points of view (along with Wolf and Thorne and the doctor, etc.), but keeping Cinder and Kai. I really like that nothing is all tied up at the end of any of the books so far. The only thing I will say has kept me from giving five stars is the complete lack of anyone figuring out anything as early as the reader does (I hope.) It doesn't even distract me anymore because I've come to expect that the characters will just keep insisting on waiting until the last minute to figure anything out. It doesn't make me dislike the books at all and I don't think the author is dumbing it down for us (like Dan Brown does), but sometimes when characters just keep coming up with crazier and crazier theories other than the truth that seems so obvious, I just want to shake them. :p I laughed out loud all the time reading these, and I cried a little in this one which surprised me, but I love it. I can't wait for the fourth book to come out next year.

Action and character development and struggles! Only really one character who is pining for their crush. Everyone else has their One True Love, of course, but they're still able to go about the business of Saving The Day in the meantime.
And she ends the book exactly where I expected because it felt right.
I'm quite looking forward to Winter!
