This was an amazing ending to the trilogy, especially the last 20% of the book. I loved the good vs evil aspect of this story. I don’t think I have ever seen a spiritual aspect to the magic in fantasy books before now. Imari’s magic song being connected so strongly to the Makers (basically God by a different name) was amazingly written. And I loved the soft way he spoke to her to let her know he was with her while she changed the world for the better with the gifts he gave her from birth.
This book had an amazing cast of characters with robust personalities that you couldn’t help but love and root for. And the character growth for many of the characters were well written and very heartwarming.
I will admit the book dragged a little in the middle but it got better. Stick with it, the ending was worth it.

A phenomenal finish wrapping up an incredible trilogy. Sometimes as you are finishing up a series you wonder what it built to... not this one. I was nervous down until the very end. I fell in love with the entire cast of characters. Their growth and relationships. I would love to see more in this world!

Such a great ending to a wonderful series!

At almost 600 pages, every single one was necessary. Such an adventure and so much happened! It was nonstop. I adored book 1, was entranced by book 2, and couldn't get enough of this one!!

I loved how the author tied in details and events from previous books into this one. I thoroughly enjoyed Imari's growth and journey. I also really liked how Jeric and Imari each had their own plotlines for a good quarter of the book. While this story had dark and triggering aspects for some, the author wrote it in a way that it didn't feel dark at all.

Absolutely recommend. Loved every moment!

Even though religion is a dominant theme in the trilogy, this book had more overtly evangelical vibes than the first two. Not in a political/cultural sense, but in the original proselytizing sense.

I wanted to like this final book more than I actually did. There were so many great characters and plot developments, but some themes and characterizations made me increasingly uneasy, until they culminated in a final showdown that reminded me of The Rise of Skywalker in the worst ways (with one major exception).

I was hooked on this and read it the majority of it in one day. I was super, super into it until the ending which ended up being Christian allegory and not entirely resolved (hard to explain without spoilers, but essentially the main change that happened isn't fully explained and it is unclear to what purpose it serves). Some of the character development, while strong in a lot of ways, left me at times wondering whether a character was ready to move on, change their mind, grow, etc. quite so quickly.

That said, these are fairly minor critiques (1) the allegory wasn't especially clear until the very ending and didn't play much of a role in the earlier story, 2) I think part of the point was that it was left unresolved, and 3) I really, really prefer very nuanced, in-depth and honestly slow character development. So, there IS definitely development, just not perhaps as much as I would want). The characters and story are excellent and compelling and certainly deserve more attention than Barbara Kloss has gotten so far. I mean, the critiques I've identified are also present in a lot of more well-known and "respected" fantasy, so Kloss deserves greater recognition and sales.

Strongly recommend and will definitely be reading her other work and anything she writes in the future.

Oh, also, if the author sees it, sometimes a synopsis of the previous books can be useful if your publisher allows. Usually it's not a big deal, as I can just go to the series' wiki page, but since this is less well-known, I struggled to recall the specific details of the previous plots and especially the nuance in character's relationships (For example, I know Imari's relationships with Kai and Rincon were important, but different in the earlier books, I just couldn't really remember the details).

I was in a reading slump and this series pulled me out of it, thank the lord. Binged all 3 books in a little over a week, which says something in my opinion. Again, my only “issue” was understanding Imari’s musical power in better detail. I love music but understand nothing about matching tones, harmonies, etc.

This was an wonderful conclusion to a wonderful series. I loved the magic of the world, the characters were fleshed out, the plot was well done and the wrap up was perfect.

I LOVE that Barbara Kloss made our girl evil for a hot second. I love that she showed that she could be corrupted. Too many books show a tiny struggle about the main character being bad or 'loosing to the dark side' but its over very quick. We had chapters of Bad Girl mode. There were consequences of her actions, there was legit outcomes of her being in bad girl mode.

It was refreshing. It was nice.

10/10 recommend the series. I don't even wish for more of the series because I feel like it was wrapped up perfectly. Would I love to see more of the characters in other stories? YES! But this series left everything done.

Read this series.
