Loved this more than The Broken Kingdoms series. The new realm was so unique and the next generation has a lot of legacy to live up to, and I cannot wait to hear all of their stories. The plot kept mee on my toes the whole time and I wasn't able to predict the plot twists, so I was taken aback when they were revealed. The relation between this new world and the old one is going to be so delicious.

Very Pirates of the Caribbean but with a magical fae twist. The MMC goes through a lot of growth in this one and the FMC is right there to help him through. Romance is a bit of a tense simmer that explodes in the last few chapters. It gets HOT, and keeps burning right to the end. This is my first intro to this world so I did find the world building a bit confusing (If you've read the other books from this world you may find it less confusing). It has a solid plot though, and I was able to understand enough that it was still an enjoyable read. The ending was brutal and you'll probably want to pick up the Ever Queen right after - so just go ahead and get both if you're thinking about it lol.

This was fun!! First nautical romantasy and the vibes were all there, I read this so quickly and was hooked. Loved the found family and the plot twists were twisting!! I also like the panic attack rep.

However, there were pitfalls for me. I found errors and oddly constructed sentences, things happened too conveniently or easily, and some scenes were anticlimactic. I wished the first book also had a glossary because there’s quite a number of characters and powers you need to wrap your head around.

There is one line I absolutely love tho: “hate me all you want, but don’t regret me.” SCREAMING!!!!

Still ate it up but I don’t think this will be for everyone, unless you mainly love the romance aspect of a romantasy.

The pirate/viking/fae cultures felt really unique! I wasn’t sure I’d be into it at first but I was pleasantly surprised.

Livia and Erik’s dialogue was fun too.

That ending was brutal and I’m beyond thankful I don’t have to wait to see what happens next.

A bit slow in some parts but not for long, and some of the more earnest dialogue was a little flowery for my tastes. That said, I was overall pretty gripped by the story the whole time and the love story was pretty swoon worthy and fairly satisfying!

Bro literally kidnapped her and i was giggling and kicking my feet ✨

Erik Bloodsinger, the king of the Ever Kingdom is out for revenge and what better way to strike than by kidnapping his enemy’s daughter, Livia. 👀😛

Read this if you like:
- Pirates 🏴‍☠️
- Romantasy - heavy on the romance
- Dark romance
- Touch her and ☠️
- A pretty dark shade of morally grey
- Inner circle

The tension at the beginning of the book had me screaming!! My only complaint is that the plot was VERY much second to the romance, but it is a fantasy-romance sooo that’s on me. I felt that most of the plot was spent on the Ever King’s ship while they were traveling from Livia’s kingdom to Erik’s. I’m not mad about it, but I had different expectations. Hopefully book 2 will be more action packed. This was genuinely such a fun read, and I can't wait to continue the series (especially with that cliffhanger?!?)

Side note: can more authors start including character art IN THE BOOK? Please?! That was life changing fr.

I had such a great time with this book and will definitely be picking up more by LJ Andrews 💖
