Slow start but picked up in the second half. I didn’t love it but it had some cute moments. Pandemic romance!

3.5 stars- I suppose I should round up to 4. I feel conflicted about this. If the whole book was like chapters 2 and 3, I would have given this a solid 4 stars. But I personally hated the first chapter with the behind the scenes look at TNO/SNL. It was too much info/too many inconsequential details and took away from the story, in my opinion. I do love that this was more realistic than most romantic comedies (is this even supposed to be one- it wasn't super funny and not really romantic- is it supposed to be ironic? I don't know). I love that they are adults talking about their feelings and thoughts. Definitely some things I loved...and some things I didn't.

I REALLY liked this book - a lot! I wasn't sure at first but I really like Sittenfeld's writing voice so I stuck with it, no spoilers but the middle bit was my favourite!! Sally and Noah were both interesting characters that I couldn't help but like, especially given Sally's taste in music. This book made me smile and laugh, and that is never a bad thing.

I heard someone on a podcast recommend this book- so I thought I would check it out....

This is basically a story about a comedy writer for SNL- except it isn't "SNL"- but this book world's version....and the musical/guest host- befriending each other....they lose contact and COVID hits. They reconnect- and become pen pals.

This is the first book I have read with Covid. I really don't need to be reminded of that time- but it allowed for some plot changes....and it was def a well written, but fun chick lit....so yay for that.

Read if you enjoy easy reads curled up on your spot.

The guitar serenading was a little icky but I thoroughly enjoyed how refreshing it was :)
