Can I get the demon pirate bits but without the porno romance bits? I am here for sword fights, not make outs.

Enjoyed it... Can't wait for next. Especially not after the slight cliffhanger. :)

Such a great book again! Loved reading it, and I thought I had a memory of something that didn't happen! Great read again!

*First read August 30th, 2018*
Loved reading this book! There were a ton of developments, and I loved learning more about these characters! And that ending was evil, can't wait for more!

It's not often that I enjoy book 2 over book 1, but that was the case here with Death Doesn't Bargain. I'm rating it higher than Deadmen Walking primarily because it had much better plot pacing. There weren't as many jumps between characters and times, and it was easier to distinguish when that happened and what the context was.

I enjoyed getting back into the crew and seeing the story develop from a new set of character perspectives. We finally get to see Cameron Jack's story, which I thought we were going to get in Deadmen Walking since the series began with her perspective for the first chuck of chapters. Her love story was very logical - which I found refreshing. They weren't going to fall for the swoon, or the 'now we have to get married because we had sex' bit.

It was still a bit strange to hear words like "awesome" and idioms like "those who live in glass houses should not throw stones" used in what otherwise is essentially Victorian pirate speak.

There are a LOT of characters and factions and lore and relationships to keep track of, but I just kind of let it all sweep over me and I go back to review what I need to if it pertains to the immediate context of the chapter.

This series is just fun, light, and sexy and I enjoy it a lot for that. Looking forward to book 3 which will release in September!!

Fast and Furious, just finished, review will change.

I do love these books, but man this is a complicated world! Keeping up with who is what and what is who, etc, I need a ‘bible’ to be able to reference while reading. And what is the time frame? Sometimes I hear the characters use words that I assume wouldn’t make sense or would not have ‘existed’ in what I assumed the time is for these books.

Note: I also listened to a good portion of this on audible. I really enjoyed the narrator but will say that many of the characters did not sound as I hear them in my head as I read, ha. Also,I’ve been saying Archeron’s name wrong for YEARS apparently! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂🤷‍♀️

Overall though, I do really enjoy these stories, the action, the sweet romances, the connection tying them to the Dark Hunters, they’re rather exciting reads if you can follow along, ha.

as with the first book a lot of terminology and lore that went over my head but the couple this book was cuter. not very appreciative of the moment where she has a no-this-isnt-you-jake moment right after this big reveal in relation to her boo but i mean alright..i guess i can tolerate some special snowflake pick me vibes as that seems to be what her character is essentially predicated upon.

I'd rather not say anything bad about a Sherrilyn Kenyon book, so I'll just leave it as "this was a complete disaster".

Kalder Dupree & Cameron Jack

I don't know what it was about this one but I had a hard time finishing it. Even though I started this series in order to read and find out more about Thorn I ended up liking [b: Deadmen Walking|25479220|Deadmen Walking (Deadman's Cross, #1)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1494651518l/25479220._SY75_.jpg|45251033] and [b: At Death's Door|34742469|At Death's Door (Deadman's Cross, #3)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1553045281l/34742469._SY75_.jpg|55931646].

I found their relationship a little plain, and nothing actually got my attention during the book. Both characters were pretty much meh to me. I gave it 3 stars only because I got lots of information about Thorn, also it was a funny book here and there but other than that it wasn't my best Sherrilyn experience.

I don't know why I kept going with this series--probably because I'm a long-time fan of Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. But the quality of writing and the storytelling is so deeply removed from the writer I've loved for so long. The depth of characters is lacking and the story arc similarly lacks detail and development. Even the characters that crop up from the original series like Savitar or Acheron lack any of trademark qualities you would expect if you're a fan of the larger world--they're pale imitations and it's painful to read. Each chapter begins with these god-awful graphics that look like bad clipart and don't inform the story enough to justify their presence. The poor graphics are just another symptom of how far off this series is from the quality you would expect from Kenyon.
