3.5 stars. IMO, this was too long and could have been shortened. Nothing much happened in the first half of the book. I loved the second half, though.

I'd just read a few Max Monroe books and enjoyable plots before this one. So, imagine my delight when I realized that Accidental Attachment was available for request! Luckily, I did get the copy, and no regrets for the time spent on this one coz it was a joy ride!

If you're a fan of Sophie Kinsella's writing style, especially from the Shopaholic series, you'll probably enjoy this. Brooke- the FMC is a bubbly, clumsy, and creative head to be inside. There's the good intent, there's the harmless pastime to get things done, there's the tiny mistake, and then there's the entire life that comes tumbling down like staked up dominos.

Yes, I loved all the cool, cheesy tropes in the novel- Secret Crush, Slow Burn, and Forced Proximity being my highlights. They all do seem to be cliches, until Max and Monroe work their magic, and behold- an addictive new concoction.

The slow burn was a tad too slow as did the dragging book in general. I also found the MCs quite immature, so minus one star for that.

Many thanks to Max Monroe for the opportunity to review this ARC. All opinions expressed are only mine.

Accidental Attachment is about an author that sends the wrong manuscript to her super hot editor. She blames the wine. But her editor loves the book she’d written to get her fantasies about him out of her brain, so she plays along. His boss okays the new book, but in the mean time, she needs to go on a cross country tour for her last books being turned into a Netflix series, and she has a fear of flying, so Brooke and Chase take off in an RV to work on the new book while doing the publicity tour. Many shenanigans happen along the way.

I appreciate the authors writing Brooke as having a rare medical condition, as that I have a few different ones myself. But they show how Brooke has a service dog hero and has many other ways of coping with her blood pressure getting too low or too high. People with rare, debilitating conditions are just as capable of finding love as anyone else.

I recommend this book to anyone that loves a mild to hot spicy romantic comedy. Some of the jokes fell flat with me, but I have my own strange sense of humor. There was more than enough to make up for the few I didn’t care for. These ladies know how to write something you want to read or listen to! The narrators for the audiobook were top notch. Sometimes with dual narrators, when a woman does a man’s voice or a man does a woman’s, they are confusing. You get used to one voice for 10-15 minutes and then all of a sudden that person’s voice sounds completely different. Luckily these narrators made it more stable. I recommend them both in general.

I received a copy of this audiobook for an honest review from Netgalley.

Accidental attachment is an adorable romcom about a writer who accidentally sends her editor fan fiction she had been writing about him. I really loved both these characters. Brooke is an anxious mess but she is also funny and caring. As a person who is an anxious mess it was nice to see her get a happy ending. Chase was also a great character. I loved how much he believed in Brooke's book. I also enjoyed the side characters like Sammy and Brooke's parents and of course Benji who may or may not get his own HEA. There are two reasons this book wasn't 5 stars for me. First it was a bit slow paced and slow burn for my taste. Second, I really prefer less talk about bodily functions in romance novels. There was a fair amount of throwing up in this one. It made sense because Brooke threw up when she got anxious and both characters got sick at one point but it's just one of those things from the real world I like to pretend doesn't exist in books. Totally a personal preference. That being said, I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading Sammy and Noah's book that is hopefully coming soon!

Boring and needed editing. Many scenes were unnecessary.
