Reading this in June 2024 after Download Fest really brings a whole new layer of appreciation of how far Fall Out Boy has come, but more importantly Joe’s  part inside and outside of that as well

I'm a little biased because I'm a big fan of Joe and Fall Out Boy.  I knew when this book came out, I would enjoy it as it's about someone I think is cool AF.  Joe shares his difficult relationship with his mother, getting into the punk scene, getting into drugs, meeting the rest of Fall Out Boy, HIATUS, getting off of drugs, falling in love, having children, and what's next.  Joe is down-to-earth, casual, and authentic.  His writing is the farthest thing from pretentious.  At times, his jokes are corny, but you can't help but smile because it feels very millennial dad (because he is!).  It's endearing, there's just so much heart.

Full of self-depricating humour, Joe Trohman recounts key moments of his life and how they have influenced his life to make him the person he is today. Humourous and reflective, this is one for the fans who want to get to know the self proclaimed "man behind the man behind the man" of Fall Out Boy.

I found it a bit repetitive in parts, or at least a bit back-and-forth-y, and though Trohman's writing style is chatty and self-deprecating, it does lead him to go off on tangents at times. And by times I mean entire paragraphs of "what relevance does this have to what you're trying to say?". That said, I did really enjoy reading this (aside from the occasional vulgarity and rape jokes).

I loved the insight into Joe's life and way of thinking despite the heartbreaking stories he has to tell about his childhood and his place in Fall Out Boy. I thought the book was great and read it very quickly. My only complaints are that there is occasionally information repeated chapter to chapter as if this is a series of blog posts where someone is only starting to read in chapter 5 and 2 unnecessary rape jokes.

I loved this memoir! It gave me so much insight into my absolute favorite band. Seeing how much turmoil he went through in his youth with a very mentally abusive mother and then navigating life with intense insecurities, imposter syndrome, and terrible depression felt so human considering he’s a rock star. It was an easy read and only gets a 4 star because sometimes his self depreciation and ramblings went on too long. Other than that it’s a great read.
