Secret military group fights monsters in the Arizona desert with neat military toys. And there are aliens too dating back to the 1947 Roswell, NM incident.

Read Leviathan originally, and thoroughly enjoyed it, and decided to get the rest of the books and start from the first. Loved the twists and turns of The Roswell Incident in this story. The book is fairly heavily military-jargoned, which might be a turnoff for some, but wasn't for me. Fast paced, tons of action, fairly gruesome, especially towards the last third of the book, it was a really enjoyable read. It was neat getting a feel for how the main characters came together and get to know each other as well. The book definitely runs along the lines of James Rollins books, especially his individual ones, less Sigma-type.

More like 2.5: Suspenseful, good sci-fi, but with a "monster" - don't like that much at all

This book was very fast paced. Something was always happening. I really enjoyed the tour of vaults in the beginning. I wasn't expecting the amount of gory details but I don't mind it. Great read if you like sci-fi/aliens.

It started back in 1947 when an unidentified craft crashed near Roswell, New Mexico, with no survivors. The military caravan transporting the debris and remains, forced to pull over to wait out a sandstorm, is ambushed, everyone murdered.

In the present day there is an encounter between the USS Carl Vinson and two UFOs that take down the military jets sent to check them out.

I wanted so much to enjoy this book. It sounded like the type of book that fascinates me: UFOs, military and science mixed together, science fiction. The prologue was a decent teaser. However, despite the action in the first chapter, I couldn't get into the story.

I struggled on, tried flipping ahead hoping something would click and get me interested enough to continue reading. I wanted to add this series to my other favorites: David Weber's Honor Harrington series and James Rollins' Sigma Force series, among others. Sadly it wasn't to be. DNF

Great book, a lot like the movie Tremors but better in every way, and I love the movie Tremors. It's more realistic and has more military involvement. I like the way he includes information about the Aliens so we aren't learning along with the heroes of the story. Overall, great book, loved it!
