This was a cute introduction to what seems like a great graphic novel set during the early 1960s. It follows 16 year-old Goldie Vance who works at a hotel in Florida that is managed by her father. She helps out with the on-site detective agency, as well as a valet driver. She has to help find a missing necklace, but when the ownder of the necklace disappears, Goldie Vance is on the case, even if it means going up against Russin spies in order to find him. 5/5 Stars.

I was not into this at first but the more I read the more I enjoyed it. I’m not usually a fan of cutesy Nancy Drew stuff but make it queer and a majority cast of people of colour and I’m suddenly a fan.

I had so much reading this. It has been a long time since I read a graphic novel and this volume was perfect to ease me into it.

Goldie is a 16 year old, who lives at a Florida resort with her dad, who manages the place, and it's her dream to one day be the hotel's in-house detective. So we follow Goldie in a case with the current detective Walter.

List of things I loved:
* the art style is colourful and I adored it
* Also, the comic looks sort of retro, like it was in the 50s
* Goldie’s character was fun to follow and we meet so many other amazing characters in this journey
* the rep is amazing as Goldie is a queer female POC

I would have loved if they expanded the plot a little bit (especially at the end) but since it was only volume 1 of the series, I expect we have more adventures involving Goldie.

All in all, I really enjoyed this and I will definitely look forward to more.

This graphic novel was a quick, fun read, but I expected more from it. I guess I'll continue reading to see if it becomes better.
By the way, I LOVED the art style! It's so beautiful.

I love the artwork in this! Every character has a cute, distinct look and the action sequences have a nice flow to them that isn’t too showy. The story feels like an homage to early Nancy Drew with undercurrents of steampunk technology hovering somewhere in the background. Very enjoyable start to a series.

I would like to begin by saying, that even though this was published in 2016, the language is of the time period, which caused me to go "eh" a couple of times while reading this graphic novel. The worst case of it is at the very first page, but then it is not that bad. There are some "traditional American values", like russians are bad and stuff like that, that also got in a way of really enjoying this work.
Now to the good stuff, it was nice to see that the main character is down to earth (in terms of class) and is valued for that. The stuff with Diane is cute, I guess, but as you can see, I was not amazed. The idea was pretty nice and I enjoyed my time, but I did not enjoy all the times stuff got bad and it really outweighted the good stuff for me. :c

I absolutely loved this comic - the art, the story, the characters. Goldie is a vibrant and fantastic heroine that many readers will love.

Love the art, the characters are fun--the story is the sort of wacky Nazis-and-Russians-run-around-in-helicopters-with-nerdy-secret-codes-carved-into-costume-jewelry farfetched that can be charmingly campy or get old, and we'll see which in the coming volumes.

Also, I spent a good portion of the book trying to figure out how old Goldie is, especially with her being shorter than everyone else, but working, and no mention of school even though it's February (apparently 16).
