Solid characterisation, decent worldbuilding, fun tropes. Also had a good mystery going on.

This is my second Ali Hazelwood book and I’m already seeing what I suspect is her tried and true formula. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but it’s not great either.

I did appreciate that Misery (atrocious name choice- Ali Hazelwood, you should serve prison time for this) and Lowe getting to know each other felt natural despite their circumstance. It could have easily dipped too deep into insta-love territory. Unfortunately I don’t think either of them really grew as people. The twists were predictable as well so watching Misery stumble into answers was a little frustrating. Like girl, of course
your dad is the bad guy. You should’ve known that from the start.

The book’s main selling point is that if the reader has spent any time at all on Ao3, it’s familiar territory and it’ll be an easy, quick read. I think I’m done with Ali Hazelwood now though. I don’t think she can deliver anything I will genuinely like.

Hot, fun, and very sweet! Such an easy read, flew through it so quick.
The love interest is such a simp for her I love it 😂
Loved reading such healthy communication around intimacy in a romance book!

Addictive and sexy. Really liked the view of vampires being a unique species rather than undead humans - a nice world building twist!
