- kind of boring
- was tempted many times to just drop the book
- kind of missed a bit of drama

I feel like this was overall a very sweet father/son story more than a romance book.
I liked several things about it like our hero's relationship with his son and how it developed and the family aspects BUT for a romance book, this was very lacking.
I feel like with a dual pov I'd enjoy this a lot more.
Also... the title feels a bit misleading because I kept wondering "where is the groveling?" And I think that also pulled me out of the story because I was expecting that and didn't get it.
I might read book one maybe in the future and reread this one maybe I'll enjoy it more that way. Still a sweet book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a great story! I love second chance romance and this one was extremely witty and fun. Desmond and Sadie were great characters with a history of love that was sweet and special!

What did I like? I was mailed an ARC, so I read it and was blown away by how much I loved it. This family had their lives ruined by WITSEC and there terrible father. It’s really nice to see them get a a well deserved HEA.

Would I recommend or buy? Floved it! People who love second chance romance will devour this! I can’t wait for the other brothers to get a book! Thanks to the publisher for a paperback copy! Five huge stars!

When I'm lost, you light the way.
When I'm down, you lift me up.
My life is full because of you.
Friend. Lover. Wife. Beautiful mother.
A partner in this life we're building.
When you need me, I'll be there to hold you.
Support you. Encourage you.
Find you when you're lost.
Lift you up when you're down.
No obstacles are too hard for us to conquer together.
I am forever and always yours.

Oh my gosh! I loved getting Desmond and Sadie's story!

Similar to E and Delilah's story, this definitely had a dose of dealing-with-an-asshole-who-ruined-our-first-chance. But I liked the way that yeah they had that alike but at the same time, it was two very different relationships. And not just with the addition of Max.

Des was great although I will admit that I was a little confused about the cover up until the end. And then I was a little disappointed because he didn't really grovel all that much. Like overall, he didn't really have any groveling to do because while he left previously, it wasn't his fault. And once he broke his anti-puking streak and ended up back in Ruby Grove, he was all in on spending time with Sadie and Max and figuring out a life with them. I will admit that the end when he started pushing Sadie for the job is where the groveling really needed to come in and while he definitely got the kick in the pants he needed, I felt like we did need more groveling. Yeah, he did finally talk to Sadie and acknowledge things but I guess I wanted more, especially with the title.

Sadie was interesting and while I was glad that she didn't have any anger at Des over things, I also felt like the author maybe couldn't decide if she wanted to have this be more of a will they/won't they or just jumping straight back in. I did like that Sadie didn't say Des couldn't be involved in Max's life, but she did ask that they think about Max before jumping into things completely.

I loved the way Des was with Max. Not just as he got to know him and the whole finding out that he was a dad thing but also with the potential of "is my kid gay" that they had going on. He didn't push, just took the cues from Max once he was able to find the topics Max liked. Olivia was hilarious and I loved how she'd see through Des and spout off a fact that would often make him stop in his tracks.

Can't wait to read Lennon and Maggie's book and see why they both hit the dirt whenever the other is mentioned!

This book was everything!! Kelly never fails to amaze me with the Bower Boys! There's just something about them and how sweet they are to their girls. In this book it was super easy to fall in love with both the MMC and the FMC. Their chemistry was off the charts and their growth in the relationship was just so sweet to watch.

Second chance romances always put a smile on my face, they're just so sweet and perfect! And the boy always gets the girl in the end! I'm absolutely in love with book two and can't wait for more!

Thank you to Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is probably one of the best covers I've seen in the last year. I need to find out who designed it and see what else they have in their portfolio because it is the first thing that attracted me to this story. Second were the tropes. Small town romance, single mom, second chance - oof. Yes. Love that for me. It's also kind of a slow burn which I don't love as much, but the characters made up for that. Desmond and Sadie hurt my heart and then put me back together again and anything that can get my cold, black heart to feel is a win.

And the KIDS. Guh. <3

This is the second book in the Bower Boys universe, but I haven't read book one and I was completely fine jumping into this one as a standalone.
