Twenty eleven seems to be the year for horrible writers, I have suffered through scattered plots, careless word choice, and horrible grammar. I know your thinking I'm a hypocrite, I am horrible at grammar; but I don't have an editor like most authors and I am not published. So I am not a hypocrite. You must be expecting me to rip Rachel Cohn and her novel Dash & Lily's Book of Dares to pieces after that introduction, am I right? Of Course I'm Right, but reader you are wrong! Dash and Lily's Book of Dares has rescued Twenty eleven, this novel is wonderfully written (except for a few grammar and word choice possibilities). Dash, a sixteen year old boy who stumbles across an enchanting notebook. He is a bookish boy, truthfully a boy after my own heart, he loves words and loves to read. Lily, is a charismatic, Christmas loving, bouncy teenage girl seeking adventure. Lily leaves the notebook in a local bookstore hoping a boy would come along and play her "game". Dash finds the notebook, intrigued, he follows the instructions. Little did he know, this game would take him on a journey that will help Lily and him find their true selves and maybe even find love.
On a scale of Stephenie Meyer to J.K Rowling I'd say Rachel Cohn is a Christopher Paolini.
If you don't know my scale here it is
J.K Rowling, author of Harry Potter Series(Being the greatest)
Christopher Paolini, Author of the Inheritance Cycle (Exceptionally Good)
John Green, Author of Looking for Alaska and others (Really good)
Meg Cabot, Author of How to be Popular, and others (Sloppy but okay)
Lauren Myracle, Author of TTYL(I couldn't think of anything and there is no plot. BAD. Really Bad.)
Stephenie Meyer, Author of Twilight "Saga" (ALL AROUND DREADFUL)

I think this book deserves more than 3 stars, but it wasn't as great as other books to which I've given 4 stars! What to do???
I liked this WAY better than Nick & Norah. Probably because Lily was EXACTLY the teenager I was: kind of awkward and possibly klutzy, and wearing strange clothes, and not kissing boys. Although, she DID eventually have a romantic encounter, which makes her different from teenage me. Also Dash and Lily bonded over words instead of punk music.
I loved Lily's huge protective family and Dash's pretentiousness and Lily.
It would be interesting if these authors would collaborate on a book where they wrote opposite characters. RC could write the boy and DL could write the girl. I would read it.

I loved this so much! Such a quick read and gave me all the Christmassy feels. Super fun & hilarious and I can’t wait to read more from these two authors.
