Coriolanus makes for an extremely interesting protagonist. You watch as the conscious choices he makes to grab at power, something he has been taught to prioritize, descend him into madness and continue his disillusionment to war and violence. He starts out a nice, albeit privileged, yet desperate boy— often the worst combination. He wants to restore his family name and influence and will do anything to be on top— including
getting his best friend killed and potentially murdering his girlfriend.
However, Collin’s portrays him in a complex light, she doesn’t let you write him off as evil or “born broken”, no— that’s far too simple. She shows him as intentionally ignoring opportunities to do the actual, brave, and right thing to do. For the self-justified, weak thing. Fascinating read

The book could have been shorter without loosing the plot. Overall I liked it, but I don’t know how much of it was nostalgia. It physically pained me sometimes to read about Snow and his views and thoughts and behavior and I wished that something very bad would happen to him but we all know that it’s not going to happen.

I'm scared of Suzanne Collins. This book is both genius and so incredibly morbid. Bravo
