This volume was such a good read. Pretty sad though. (Also note that this is a filler comic and doesn’t have much to do with the main story. It focuses mostly on Poyo and Toni).

My favourite Chew volume of the 9 I've read! Toni is awesome. She should be the star of this series.

I was ready to give this volume a bright and breezy review, enthusing about the joyous characters of Toni, Caesar, Colby and POYO coming to the fore, as Tony recovers in a hospital bed following the events of the previous volume.

And then the final chapter came along.

This is the first time Chew has gone for the emotional jugular and boy oh boy is it fiendishly brilliant in its execution. Without realising it, the reader is being manipulated by the preceding chapters so that when that final chapter unfolds, its impact is at a maximum.

Argh! So gut wrenchingly clever, even if my heart is broken.

I dunno I think this graphic novel series is losing a bit of its momentum for me—I’m still enjoying all the weird and crazy antics but this one in particular felt a bit disjointed. I think I’m still going to read the last 4 volumes though for when I need something fast to read! Plus—I do still want to know where the story goes.

Too much Poyo. Not enough Tony. Again, the storytelling felt a lil disjointed. But I really, really enjoyed Toni's storyline and the ending was nice?!?

Poor Toni, I hope she'll be revenged.
The Applebee/Penya/Colby triangle is hilarious, I really needed this.
