4 stars. I REALLY wanted to love this story but every time i was almost into the story there was something to pull me out and most of the time it was just grammar errors which made me insane. Hopefully the next story is a little better edited. I am glad William finally got his HEA and the war has hit a point of Peace, but looking forward to what's next in hopes its better.

This is not good people! Honest to whatever gods you pray to.
I ussed to love the Lotu series damn but this....this is not good! Poorly written charcters, clichees up to high heaven...pun intended! Long lost brother, father issues, girl unicorn and I can go on. Oh I hate the way they talk to each other ..who the fuck talks like that? Who you ask? All of them ....I wanted this book to be a culmination of epicness ...fail! Major fail.
Another thing William the fuckin' toolbag douche doesn't bang the same girl twice so the Unicorn lady friend has interchangeable hair ....really ? Dude can't commit so you make the main female change hair every 2 seconds to please the shovinist?! Yeah....female empowering much?! Neah that's for cool authors!

Madam Showalter if you ever come accros this review please please do something about the next books! Stop with the fuckin clichees! Oh and the sex scenes...jessus crist fuck me up cringe fest galore! Ewwww.....so much cringe...ewww ew ewwww!!! And I had to get drunk to read it btw because it was that bad! Pffff...don't do it...don't read this book...just don't.

For years William has known that when he meets the love of his life she will kill him so he keeps his relationships to one night, no matter how much he envy's his fellow Lords for their committed relationships. Sunny is a rarity in the paranormal world, an actual unicorn, and tries hard to keep away from others because she and her kind are hunted. William has one chance to break the code to save his life and Sunny is just to woman to break that code. But as they spend more and more time together they are no longer kidnapper/kidnappee, they've blurred the lines and begin to trust each other. William's life is on the line along with the fate of the world, has their relationship progressed enough to make it through the coming apocalypse? I've loved William through the series and was so excited to finally get his HEA! With how he's helped all the other couples it was his turn to finally find some happiness. Great story, fun series!

William got the ending he deserved and the sparks between William and Sunny was such a wild ride to read. Their banter had me flipping the pages as fast as I could possibly read. I love this series and cannot wait to read more from this world.

Williams book! Finally! I feel like I have waited forever for it, wondering who could possibly be his perfect match, his other half. Sunny did not disappoint! A contradiction of emotion, a funny, colorful woman who is powerful beyond imagining. Their journey is fraught with uncertainty, their attraction destined and scorching. The past a constant companion to them both, secrets and hidden truths will be revealed and their bond flourishes despite their perils. Loved every minute of it and what comes next is foremost on my mind!I can't wait for what Gena Showalter has in store for us next!

i'm so confused whether i just finished the last book in the series or not bc it felt like it just wrapped up the whole series and the whole friend group is all coupled up but ik the author is gonna write more books about other chracters in the series so i'm thinking it's gonna be novellas or spin off series but anyways this book was so good ugh. i felt like the time moved kinda weird in this book bc it was really slow and then at the end there was a two week time skip so i'm like where are we what time is this but anyways i feel like the main guyy is sm different than he was in the previous books but that's bc there's more shit about his traumatic backstory or whatever #mommyanddaddyissues like yikes but i like him still he was one of my favs in the beginning of the series and still is and the main girl fits him really well i love her. the main guy bee annoying tryna put distance between their relationship bc of his curse wich i get but you're so annoying bruv but the way the girl reacts to it is so funny like she's petty and would do shit to spite him which is so #girlboss but i was fucking dying when it was revealing she's a unicorn shifter like stfu not a fucking unicorn are you kidding me in this book series w demons and shit shes a unicorn. anyways ignroing that the plot twists in the book were good like i'm just dumb and didn't make connections or wahtever but i was like oh the curse is in the ink but the reaction to the thing was so like bland i was expecting a little more omg what the heck ahh and then th eother twist of the medallion being a mf unicorn horn like pls stop this madness. but the realtionship between the two i really enjoyed one of my favs even tho the main guy annoyed me but we'll excuse it bc of the trauma. omg i hate his adopted dad tho but i'm rooting for his relationship w this girl stuck in the mirror and i'm rooting for the main guy's borther w that girl that was married to his adopted brother but their books aren't out yet #rude. but rating this 9.5/10 really liked it and i'm so sad i finished all the recent books but there's one coming out in a month i think of another cdharacter i like and another book cfoming out next year so i can't complain too much.
note in 2023 after transcribing my old reviews: i don't think the book of the girl in the mirror and whoever i was talking about ever came out...

The Darkest King had good moments. I liked Sunny and the ideas behind unicorn shifters. I imagine that Evelina and Axel have a story in the works, and that we'll see Sable again. There were also some nice fan-service moments in the epilogue. But I wanted more emphasis on story; there was a lot of action and information dumped in the final chapter that I would have liked earlier on/spread throughout the book. I also don't remember the stories (and I could be wrong) being this violent. The torture was too much for me. Lastly, kind of a spoiler:
Spoilerthere was too much "penis-in-vagina-sex is the only real sex." William and Sunny were having sex all along

We’ve all been waiting for William’s story for years and all I can say is that, it was worth it. I loved learning all about William, his past, his secrets, his feelings! Yes! William the Ever Randy has lots of them. Sunny is a new character and she is amazing! She’s exactly what William needed, she’s not afraid of him, she doesn’t fall at his feet and she challenges him in the best way. Showalter delivers with The Darkest King, she took risks and they paid off. This book also introduces a few new characters and paves the way for future stories which I’m sooo excited about! Hades and Axel both play a big part and I loved loved loved reading more about them. King is also full of action, plot twists and, dear lord is it steamy! Anyway, William and Sunny work, they made me fall in love with the LOTU world even more and I can’t wait to read the next one!

Disclaimer: I was able to read an early copy of this book as I work for the author.

Looooot of spelling errors in this book. I very much enjoyed it though. Seems like the main Lord character is never as snarky in their book as they are in others' books but William is still pretty funny in this one sometimes. I thought Sunny was great, a good match for William (and much better than Gillian who I did not care much for). All in all this is one of my faves of the series.
