There was a lot going on in this book, like almost soap-opera-level dramatic occurrences, yet it never felt OTT or campy, which shows what a good writer she is. I think she could have cut one of them out, so I took a half star off for that.
Mac and Isabella felt fully realized and human, with scorching chemistry and a real depth of feeling. Mac would have driven me nuts with his attentiveness/smothering, but then I am a person who very much likes her time alone.
Bonus: Ian made a number of appearances, which was more than welcome.
Moderate: Miscarriage

I like that Ashley gets into hard topics, in this book miscarriage and alcoholism, and treats them pretty well, and with the gravity they deserved. I didn't like the back and forth between Isabella and Mac, it got to be way too repetitive, and sometimes I wondered why they were still doing this. Having a character that embodied Mac's insecurities was incredibly interesting and would have been awesome to dive deeper into, instead of saving that for the last few pages. The ending was way too neatly tied up, and I was sitting there like "what was the point??"Moderate: Miscarriage
