This book started off feeling a little bit unorganized. The character development wasn’t huge but was also unnecessary in some areas, for example, naming all of the nieces didn’t make much sense. Also how the families reacted didn’t feel natural to the flow of the book.
I stuck it out because the lifelong friends-to-lovers trope felt like it could be cute, and it was, once I got to the middle. The spicy scenes felt a little displaced for me though.
I left feeling disappointed in the end. It felt like once we got through the drama it was “okay and everything was fine the end” and I think slower detail could have helped. I also read the bonus future chapter and it was really cliche.
Did I want to keep reading to know what happened? Yes. Could it have been delivered differently? Absolutely.

Idk exactly the reason but I really liked this.

The banter bw the two characters was impeccable. Normally friends to lovers is not my jam but dang I get it with this book.

I loved the mental health representation, specifically about how two different people can have the similar mental health conditions but they manifest in such different ways. Also I’m just a huge fan of fun spicy romances that tackle trauma as well bc it’s so realistic for people to have issues to work through alongside a relationship. Also the parts where the characters are confronted by their loved ones saying that they are valued and deserve happiness ughhhh it gets me good.

Solely bc I’m not a friends to lovers person, I cannot understand the appearance of chemistry and sexual tension all of a sudden. I’m glad it was mentioned that they both felt it when younger but just didn’t act on it, but idk it still just felt off.
I also wish they talked more about their future together, specifically bc they had some conflict there and it felt a little brushed under the rug.
Oh and the mean girl plot line towards the end felt out of pocket and a tad unnecessary. It didn’t rlly add much to the plot except for maybe Felicity getting some closure from highschool, but I feel like that could’ve been accomplished another way.

Anyways that’s not to say I didn’t rlly like this book. I had such an awesome time reading it, and it kept me engaged to read it in one day. I’ve been struggling with sticking to a book recently so this was just what I needed. The chemistry between the characters in this series is always so good, and I’m excited to read the next book :))

This was a good read. Sadly it didn't really have kind of quotes I like to put in this reviews.

“Your turn,” she said sleepily. “Tell me something.”
“What do you want to know this time?” I asked, curled up behind her between the soft, cool sheets of our hotel bed.
“If you could do anything else with your life, like if it had gone in another direction, where would you be?”
Here, I thought. Right here with you.

This book includes ⬇️
Friends to lovers ✔️
Two nerds one billionaire ✔️
Fake engagement ✔️
Introverted mmc ✔️
Small town ✔️
Chaotic and relatable fmc ✔️

“Good girl. You learn quickly.”

There's not much smut but the bit that was there was good. 3/5 🌶🌶🌶.

Enjoy 👀

Felicity and Hutton have been friends forever. After reconnecting when Hutton moves back home for the summer, they begin to spend more time together and they both feel like things are shifting. Then during her high school reunion, Felicity drinks a little too much and blurts out to the high school mean girl that she is engaged to Hutton. When she calls him begging for his help, he rushes to her rescue. They decide to keep up the ruse and pretend to be engaged.

I love these two, they are quirky and unexpected MCs. This story is not just about a fake relationship or them finding love, but it is about their individual journeys to trying to heal from their own trauma. Both Felicity and Hutton have so much anxiety from past trauma, but they display it is different ways. Hutton hides himself from the world and believes that he is unable to be in a healthy relationship. While Felicity is terrified that anyone who loves her will leave her (thanks to her mom) and will cut off her hair when she is anxious.

Felicity and Hutton make each other feel safe. They have built up so much trust over the years of being friends that they can be themselves around each other. Even though they resist their feelings they can't help falling for each other. They balance each other out so well and support each other. Hutton helps Felicity learn to trust in love and Felicity helps him tackle his anxiety.

Tropes: childhood friends to lovers, billionaire, fake engagement

"...but you are doing so well princess. You are such a good girl, and I'm going to give you what you want."

Sir! SIR! 🥵🥵🥵
Oh Hutton, I am puddle.
ISTG It's always the shy quiet nerdy ones 🥺🥺.

The way he takes care of miss girl.. emotionally, physically, financially..
He offers to buy an app just because she got a bad fake review of her business on it. He spends mooooooney on her. Washing her hair. Rubbing her feet. Feeding her. F*CKING the beejezus out of her. Lordy!!

I'm just going to sit in a corner and cry. I want a hot billionaire too. 😭😭😭 Gimme gimme. 🤲🏾

This was cute. I liked the long standing friendship, but I found it hard to connect to. Maybe it was because we’re reminded, randomly and unnecessarily, that Hutton is a billionaire no less than a dozen times. I didn’t like that it felt like Hutton and Felicity were being corralled into most of their actions, rather than choosing them, even at the end.

I love this book. I suddenly can't put it into words. I could while i was reading it but now that I'm sitting here trying to write this I suddenly can't think of anything.

i lied.
I think a big part of it was Hutton's and Felicity's anxiety it just made them feel more real. Their fears and concerns just made me feel more connected to them - even if i don't nessciarily relate to them (if that makes sense). also the smut was nice... for once i didn't want to just skip over it like i usually do.

Another thing! I was still interested in their story beyond the 60% mark and through the 3rd act break up. I'm noticing that with the romance books I've been reading recently I get uninterested by the 60% mark, not completely to the point i dislike the book, just want to get it over with, but that was not the case with this book :)

so yea! i really enjoyed this book. Loved the cast of characters. I loved seeing more of millie AND THE FACT THAT SHES GETTING A BOOK!! i'm very excited for that.

10/10 would recommend!
it's friends to lover, fake engagement, billionaire romance, also like light dom/sub relationship like very very light i feel. literally has everything you want. Hutton's name is a little :[ but you get over it
