Friends to enemies to lovers trope. Although it's told from dual POV's of both main characters, Milo's arc was more dominant and integral to the story. He had a lot of growing to do and spends a good portion of the book groveling and apologizing for past behavior (totally necessary). Although the pandemic isn't referenced, Jasper's sister, April, has a blood disorder that weakens her immune system so she masks, avoids large events, socially distances, etc. I felt like her character was a small nod to the current situation.

As much as I really liked Conventionally Yours I happened to absolutely love Put of Character. Jasper and Milo have a really cute dynamic and I loved seeing their interactions throughout the book. Getting to watch their transition from enemies to friends to lovers was really nice and it flowed very naturally. Generally when reading romance books what have dual POV i find myself liking one character over the other. I’m happy to say I actually really liked both Jasper and Milo individually and even more as they became a unit together.
Jasper is our bullied in the past nerdy kid that is both witty and smart. Throughout the book we see him learn to trust and forgive Milo for the past and he even helps him get through a lot of his life hurdles.
Milo is our main antagonist for the first few chapters. Then he becomes a character we love and root for. I enjoyed getting to see how he grew from his childhood trauma. I am always a sucker for watching a character become stronger and achieve their goals.
These 2 characters relationship was really realistic and I enjoyed how plausible their story was. Most of all I liked that there wasn’t any out of pocket random conflict that just came out of nowhere.
All in all I absolutely loved this book and would have devoured it sooner had I not been so busy. 10/10 recommend.

Not complicated, not challenging, but extremely enjoyable. The characters have problems, but they are all solved with ease in a way that is satisfying but you never thought wouldn’t happen. Low tension, high reward.

A sweet childhood friends became enemies and friends again story. I hate bullies but I really like remorse, and Milo wasn't even a bully exactly, more one of those silent enablers – which is never okay but definitely easier to forgive than being one of the actual tormentors.
These boys are cute together and they do cute geeky things like cosplay and the card battles. I definitely enjoyed this, and the story rolls pretty smoothly, not even feeling that long. But there's nothing that really blows it out of the park either. I'm rouding up to 4 stars because the nerd culture is so delightful, otherwise I think this is just good, not great.
