A very lovely and enjoyable read, often funny and generally heart warming. A few of the asides didn't work for me, but I'm definitely checking out the sequels.

Generally - I truly enjoyed this book. Loved seeing the adventures that Miss Percy and Fitz go on! My total rating is a 4/5 - very nearly a 4.5. I am adding this here instead of just at the end like I usually do because there will be a few spoiler points in my extended review (which will be marked). Overall, I loved the characters the most! They were endearing and genuine and unique. Loved the "villian(s)", one in particular seemed extra villanous (is that a word?). I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read book 2 (eventually one day when my tbr lightens up a bit).
CAWPILE Breakdown - I will mark where there are spoilers, but please be aware that your eyes may wander and I can't be held accountable for wandering eyes - mainly at the plot category. Consider yourself warned.
Characters: 5/5 - I loved each one of these characters, for different reasons. They were so much fun to spend time with.
Atmosphere/Setting: 4/5 - The atmosphere was spot on. I felt it all and loved it. Setting, there were a few moments/settings that I wished we could see just a little bit more. But all in all it was well done.
Writing Style: 3/5 - I mostly give this a 3/5 because there were many times when the paranethetical sidebars distracted me from the main text. Maybe that was just the way that the Kindle read - because my screen is smaller, but it felt like at times it took up so much space that I forgot what the main text was saying and had to go back and start that paragraph over again. If that makes any sense. My other main "qualm" with it you can find under the slight spoiler part of our Plot category.
SLIGHT SPOILERS - DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY SPOILER AT ALL. DOES NOT GIVE AWAY MAJOR SPOILER, BUT A MINOR BIT. YOU CAN TRY TO SKIP AHEAD TO INTRIGUE IF YOUR EYES DON'T WANDER OR BAMBOOZLE YOU.
Plot: 4/5 - So as I just wrote, this is where I'm going to be giving one slight spoiler away - so consider this your very last warning. I thought overall the plot was done well, however there was one point - when they went to the Great Uncle's Estate and met with Mr. Gorman (I think was his name) that felt like once we got back to "home base" it didn't really affect the story that much and I questioned if it was needed. I thought since it took up a fair amount of space, it would affect the outcome of the book. However, except for maybe providing further motiviation to Miss Percy and of course Belinda's future it wasn't necessarily needed. UNLESS of course it will be playing into future books, which does happen. Now that I'm writing this I can see subtle ways that it may have affected it....

Intrigue: 5/5 - Loved all the intrigue. I was interested the entire time - even when I had a feeling how it would all play out, meaning where we'd end up, I had no idea how it would happen but needed to know.
Logic/Relationships: 5/5 - Loved all of this. Everything (and I mean everything) made logical sense. The relationships were just so special. I loved seeing how all these characters interacted with each other.
Enjoyment: 5/5 - Truly enjoyed this book so much. I can't wait to read book 2, one day when my TBR lightens up.
Total: 31/7 = 4.4 - so close to a 4.5!

This book is delightful and heartwarming! I loved the unique writing style with all the meandering thoughts and parenthetical side notes. Many people might find them distracting but this is often how I think and it was fun to see a story narrated this way. The tone is honest and real with a hint of comedy which I found engaging and entertaining.
The dragon is adorable and Mildred is a lovable and relatable main character. She is living a fairly ordinary, albeit miserable, life until she unexpectedly inherits a dragon. She forms a sweet bond with Mr. Wiggan and his housekeeper in defiance of her overbearing (controlling and abusive) sister. I love her quiet rebellion that becomes louder as the story progresses.
I was so happy to see her discover her courage and stand up for herself. She deserves a life of her own and I’m excited to read the next book about her adventures to find other dragons!
