“I don’t know what the hell I did to ever deserve you, but you’ll never take another breath without knowing how special you are to me.”

God, I loved this woman. She knew exactly what to say to keep me composed. “Just meet me there, angel. I need you.”

The sound of a car starting comes through the phone. “I know. I’m coming.”

This book came out for the first time in 2014 and I had never heard of it but this time I decided to give it a try.

Yes, I thought it was insta-love but I think the story takes it well even though it's not my style.

Mia returns to Alabama after nine years to visit her best friend for the summer. She can't wait but when she thinks that her friend's brother will be there she cringes a little.
When they were little they were taken to kill and he treated her a little badly.

On the way to Alabama she decides to stop being a virgin rather than start her summer with her friend. That's where she meets a man in a bar and they have an amazing night… it turns out it's Ben. Neither of them recognizes each other when they spend the night together and meet the next day. Imagine the situation. Ben wants Mia to forgive him for everything from the past but Mia doesn't make it easy for him.

It is a book that is read super fast and although I have felt that everything has happened very quickly, I liked it, especially a small character that appears. I really want to read the next ones, especially the one about Ben's sister.

This book was pretty cute. I adored Ben and Mia, but there was one point with the ex I wasn't real fond of. Ben hated Mia when she was younger. Mia was best friends with his sister and Ben relentlessly teased her. Mia swore to hate Ben forever, but when they meet again one night and don't exchange names, they both realize that they could be meant for each other. There was a lot of drama, but it didn't make me really upset, so it was written in a way that it could be a light read.

It was my first J. Daniels book, and I found it to be an okays read. I didn't love this one, but I did like it.

Ben was a good guy, he's sexy, thoughtful, and loving and I liked him. Mia was fine. Although she was a okayish, I sometimes found myself annoyed by her actions and decisions. I thought some of the things she texted and said to Ben were inappropriate. I was cringing.

They had an instant love. It happened too fast. I have nothing against insta love. Because sometimes I liked it and sometimes I don't. But not so much here. Also, I loved Mia's relationship with her best friend, Tessa and with Nolan (he's super adorableeee)

So, overall an enjoyable and easy read but not my favorite. I'm definitely looking forward to read about Luke and Tessa! And also Reed's story!

Thank you so much Valentine PR and J. Daniels for a copy of this arc!

| DNF @ Chapter 6 |

I struggled to believe anything that happened up to chapter 6. Like Ben and Mia not recognizing one another, but Mia and Ben's sister are the best of friends—how do you not recognize your best friends brother? Or that said brother has a son? How do you not know your best friend is an aunt?

Also, I struggled to believe that Ben's intentions were anything other than wanting to sleep with Mia again. Two days after their hook up, Ben is all about "my heart belongs to you," and "she's mine." Yet, the day after their anonymous hookup Ben talks about how he couldnt stand Mia growing up, but he sees her in a small bikini looking skinny and fit, now he wants her. However, we are to believe that his intentions are good because they had a "connection" when they slept with one another, it has little to do with her losing all that weight he would shame her for growing up.

Several times up until I DNF this book, we read about the nasty comments Ben used to make towards Mia growing up. Like how she shouldn't eat her kind (bacon), or she shouldn't go on the swing because she would break the branch it's tied to. These comments are hurtful and they stay with you, I can definitely understand why Mia isn't ready to forgive Ben. I couldn't get on board with Ben's "change of heart." Yes people can change, but why is it that the hero only changes once he sees how "stunning" the heroine has become after losing weight? Curvy/big women are stunning too, and insinuating otherwise does not make for a good read.

This book had the potential to be such a great read, it even started off well but after they're one night stand, I couldn't help but continuously roll my eyes. If you can look past all the unbelievable moments you may just enjoy this, however I just couldn't.
