Great book 2

Oh the mystery! The intrigue! And honestly the comedy!
I love this series. If you're seeing this review and haven't read the first one, head there. It you have, I likely don't need to explain why I like it so much.

Another amazing read

Loved this book so much! The characters are so passionate, twisted, and monstrous. I just want this storyline to never end. The next book will release within three weeks but i have a feeling that the book hangover from this one will make that seem like forever!

Love this series!

While they are smaller books, I love this story. I NEED to know the backstop and love how the author set it up this way. There are a few grammatical issues, but its not through the entire thing so it does not effect the story. Love the small spicy bits, but that it doesn't over power the plot

I'm enjoying this series so much that I don't want it to end!

This book is funny, light, easy read, fast paced, sexy, wicked and clever. The chemistry among the characters is touchable.

I highly recommend Kristy Cunning's books, if you want to have some fun!

Bloody

We're not any closer to discovering what happened to Violet's mother, but we're certainly getting into more trouble.

Violet has a lot of secrets and unfortunately secrets have a way of trickling out. Seems the more we discover about her, the more strange it all becomes. The monsters are intrigued. I am intrigued. And so, I'll leave this review here and head off to read book 3. I loved this.

I enjoyed this book, but I’m a little less forgiving than I was with the first one. I described book one as intriguing, entertaining, exhausting and frustrating. That’s still pretty accurate for book two, though I might switch out exhausting with confusing.

I have no idea how to summarize the plot of this book. It’s mostly just a series of random scenes/events, then there’s a big climatic fight in the last fifty pages. Violet attends two parties, one hosted by Arion and the other by Damien. She has sex with two of the guys, but they both pull away and pretty much refuse to talk to her afterwards. Her father shows up out of the blue, and then leaves after a few awkward conversations about repairing damage to her house. Violet makes friends with some of the female wolves. The guys bicker every single time they come in contact with each other. That’s pretty much it.

We do at least learn more about the guys and their history. It’s a tiny amount, but it is something. I kind of, sort of understand why they buried Arion at least. We find out more about Damien in general, why the guys are no longer friends, and some of the sacrifices they had to make to become immortal. There are still a ton of unanswered questions. I at least feel like we’re starting to get some answers though, and this book wasn’t nearly as much work as the last one.

I still like Violet, though she did have some moments that made me roll my eyes. She admits that she’s clingy and has trouble hanging on her anger. As a result the guys are able to walk all over her. Though she holds her own in the battle at the end, she comes across as kind of helpless in this book. She endlessly bounces back and forth between the guys. This is more the guys’ story than hers, and she doesn’t drive much of the action.

After the first book I said I was reserving judgement on the guys. They didn’t do much to win me over. None of these guys is exactly prince charming material. Neither Arion nor Damien respects Violet’s wishes or boundaries. Arion basically admits he’s using her and doesn’t see why that’s a problem. Vance barely talks to her the entire book. Emit stands back and watches all the drama. My biggest issue is actually their relationships with each other. Every single time the guys are together they end up arguing. It is exhausting, and it gets old. Fast. They have the same arguments over and over again.

Also, be forewarned there is a very odd scene early on when Vance reluctantly (at first) has sex with Anna while she’s in Violet’s body. Then Anna leaves in the middle of things so that Violet can have sex with Vance even though that’s not something she wanted. I thought Anna was irritating in the first book, but I really didn’t like her actions here. What she did to both Vance and Violet was wrong in so many ways.

I know it sounds like I didn’t enjoy this book, but that’s not true. I still think this is a fascinating world, and I’m intrigued by the different creatures. I want to know more about the gypsies, the Portocale Council, the cult. I want to know how the guys became immortal, what happened to Violet’s mother, and what’s up with the fruit.

I couldn’t put this book down, I was so anxious to see if another secret would be revealed. It was fun, a little silly on occasion, and a little sexy. I am completely sucked into this world, and even when they drive me crazy I want to keep reading about these characters. I just want an easier to follow plotline next time, and I’m looking forward to some character development in the future. Thank goodness I waited long enough to start this series that the third book is already out and waiting for me.
