First Thought when Finished: Bear Attraction by Jennifer Ashley is not my favorite in the series but it was still good.

Overall Thoughts: Bear Attraction added another layer to the Shifters Unbound series. I am really curious to see where it goes from here. I liked both Walker and Rebecca but wanted more romance in their story. I thought they deserved more. However the story forward in this one is something not to be missed. Now I wait for the next one.

So its a good thing I made a point to read all the novellas. This book is important in introducing the next set of characters and its a novella.

Rebecca drove me a bit nuts at the beginning but got better. Kendrick is a jerk.

Walker and Rebecca know each other, but have withstood from seeing where their sexual tension led them. Fates seem to be against them when he's the one arresting her for trespassing. His compromise for her not getting arrested? Them spending time together, close time together, to help solve a case. Which only serves to ramp up the sexual tension.

Rebecca is a bear shifter who has always been used to being independent. She doesn't let herself be easily cowed to anyone else. And with Walker being a human, she's tried to put away her feelings as best she can. The case they work on together has them taking risks and putting themselves into somewhat dicey situations, but it also has its benefits. Maybe feelings will finally come out as they've been close to doing for awhile now.

Even though this was a shorter book, around 170 pages, I still felt like something was missing. There was an element I kept waiting for, but never got. The story wasn't rushed or lacking due to the length, but I felt like the connection between characters wasn't fleshed out as it could have been. It didn't keep me captivated or quickly turning the pages, and I so desperately wanted that with their story. With that aside, I am still looking forward to the next installment.

Have I mentioned how addicted I am to Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series? Well, I am. I adore this series more than you can imagine and have followed along since the beginning. Having been a long time shifter fan, it may surprise you that Rebecca was never really a character of interest for me but what I admire about this particular author is that she knows what her readers want when even they don't know they want it. I had no idea I would fall in love with Rebecca and Walker. I was able to relate so strongly to their story. Both secretly pining for one another but being unwilling to throw themselves out there. Too afraid of rejection when they were so sure that the other was their match. I connected with that. How often have you cared for someone and worried that those feelings wouldn't be reciprocated? Jennifer Ashley took a story filed with fantasy and fiction and made it feel real. Once again she delivered a well written story, building on the fountain we've grown to love. I will tell you now that every time I get a little peak at Olaf I smile and cannot wait until he goes through transition so we can finally see his happily ever after as well. The bears were shifters that before I'd never really responded strongly too but after Ronan and now Rebecca, I think these bears are stealing my heart. If you have not yet read Bear Attraction, be sure to add this one to your must read list because it is a riveting story filled with tension, passion, and understanding that everyone can relate to.

Over all I liked the idea of the book and the plot but it didn't come of smoothly. First this is a paranormal romance and the two main characters are thinking of each other a lot but a kiss is all you get... until the end, the very end. And with that ending, it just wasn't a very good romance. So I go to the storyline and the plot. Really that is what holds this novella together. The biggest problem was the last minute, and amazing, saves,
Spoiler First she is held by the questionable free cat shifter, and told that really they had no choice but to kill them to, they are in a holding cell and are hurt. Why didn't he just kill them after all that? Didn't make sense. Then the guy blows the building, which at first pissed me off as I thought that he had killed himself and the children but no it was an escape. Two the rubble came down on the main character, yet he, human as he is, survives it.
it brought even the pretty good story that was going on, down to an unbelievable ending. It was good but not up to the other stories in the series.

I was excited to see Walker as the hero for this novella. We've seen him in previous books and he's really proven that he is fair when it comes to Shifters. He still works for the Shifter Bureau but is much more neutral. Even after being held hostage at the bear's house near the beginning of the series. This was when Rebecca and Walker first met, and she started right out throwing her weight around with him. She's rebellious and when Walker catches her running on protected land, she has hard time keeping herself from being executed. She doesn't seem to have the respect for Walker's authority. She'd rather rattle his senses than admit she was doing wrong. Having the two work together on a case was fun. I really like this couple together. I enjoy Rebecca's stubborn attitude as it stems some fun interactions between her and Walker.

It was surprising to me that such a big revelation happens at the end of Bear Attraction where it is a novella and normally the bigger events are saved for the full length novels. I'm glad this one was in audio so I didn't miss anything! This is a whole new can of worms that has been opened with a lot of new players. And Dylan. Just how is he involved and what is he up to?

Again, I'm so glad this was in audio. I tend to skip novellas in my audio binges when they are not in audio as well. I think this would have been a bad one for me to miss. A lot happens and Walker and Rebecca get together. Let's see how Walker gets along living with a house full of bears!

Rebecca is not a weak willed woman, she is a strong independent bear shifter who hates being stuck in Shiftertown. Getting caught running in her bear form, she is taken in by Walker and his team of agents. When Walker talks his superiors into letting him take custody of Rebecca, the sparks fly between the two of them. Living and working together, Rebecca and Walker soon learn they can't keep their minds or hands off each other. If you are looking for a quick hot read then this is a book for you.
Some series slowly burn out the more books there are in the series, not with this paranormal series. Even though I LOVED book one the best, I can say this series has stayed strong and I will continue to read each one that comes out.
