I felt like the story dragged quite a bit. There were quite a few plot holes and the world building feels underwhelming. I am still on the fence about continuing the series.

I truly enjoyed this book, and have thought about it daily since finishing it. Each character’s motivations are complex in a way that root down into your mind, regardless of your agreement with their actions. A dabble in childhood trauma, how our upbringing can affect us, and how much we can grow and change from our ancestors. A magical and fantastical take on “breaking generational curses”.

I was worried about how the author was going to finish off a fight to the death without getting too “Hunger Games”, but she more than exceeded my expectations. The careful world building helped to avoid any major plot holes or giant leaps of logic, and the majority of the book had me struggling to put it down.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone!

This book is like if the Hunger Games was played by rich kids with magic. The plot is compelling and the relationships between the characters is pretty complex. The characters do like being edgy but it works well.

Stunning first co-authored book from Amanda Foody and CL Herman. I've been a fan of Amanda since her debut, and I'm going to have to check out CL's other books as well - AOUV was so well crafted, with intricate world building and engaging characters, that I need to read more from them.
The main four POVs are so distinct, each with their own flaws, issues, and thought processes, and I am in love with my enemies who could be lovers. Gorgeously dark and I cannot wait to see how this turns out.

AMAZING!! I so enjoyed this book. I’m not always the biggest fan of fantasy, but this world is so well written and easy to understand. The characters are compelling, each with their own unique flaws and motivations, and even though they are all villains, you still kind of love them. I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next!

FREAKING LOVED THIS!

It’s a hunger games-esque fantasy story that doesn’t disappoint. If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers, you need to read it!

Best book I’ve read in a long time. I enjoyed that there were 2 narrators for the audiobook so they could trade off for different genders.
