Book three in the Order of the Black Swan fell a little short for me compared to the first two books. Book three centers around Baka's history and his very horrible past. At first I found his story quite interesting, but as it continued through repeated flashbacks it seemed more of an interruption than part of the story. I was disappointed because Baka is one of my favorite characters. I was excited to see part of the romance involve him, but I wish I had seen actual romance.

What seemed to be the main part of the story was the birth of Elora's and Ram's baby and her new relationship with a pack of wolves. I loved this part of the story because I love Ram and Elora. It was wonderful to see what happened after their happily ever after wedding. Elora continues to amaze me by how adaptable she can be and still remain a character with flaws that keep her human.

There was plenty of action that picked up as if book two had never ended. I love how Victoria Danann can just keep going - making sure all our old favorite characters are involved while still introducing new characters for us to fall in love with as well.

Seriously how does Victoria Danann do it??? Combining different genres together in one series. I'm in love with Danann. She makes you feel like you are part of book. Like you are there with the characters watching the events unravel around you. You feel the emotions that the characters feel. You see what the characters see. The description and details she puts into her books makes you feel like you are really there. Marvelous!

Forever a Danann fan :)

In book three, A Summoner’s Tale (Knights of Black Swan Book 3) - Istvan Baka gets his turn in the spotlight!!!! The ex-vamp turned hero meets his soulmate - Heaven McBride the demonologist. In every lifetime souls are fated to be together, two halves of a hole. Most people do not believe that can possibly exist. But does it? Now throw in the mix a deeply hidden magical talent.

Along with the story line of Istvan and Heaven, Elora Laiken faces assassins from her dimension and falls into grave danger, she is very pregnant and due any day.

These books are not meant to be stand-alone books and you really should read them in order - unlike me who read them a wee bit out of order!!!!

This series gets better and better. This time it's the turn of the vampire, Baka, although it's not so much about his potential romance as his past life. And of course, Elora Laiken makes a big appearance. The characterisation is unfolding well, and I'm enjoying being part of this "family" of friends.

Several years later, and I'm back to this series and enjoying it again. One of the best things about this series is that while each book has its own couple, they're not the main focus. which is good, because the Baka-Heaven storyline is not exactly my favourite; to be perfectly honest, older me finds Heaven not just prissy but fairly manipulative. And as for the sex scenes ... well, I'm just not seeing the attraction. I did enjoy being drawn into Baka's past, as much as I disliked the person he was - superb writing all around as far as that's concerned.

That said, this is one of my favourites because of the Elora storyline. Glen also has some excellent scenes that actually had me going back to reread it several times. The action scenes, the emotion between the characters, the concern they all show for each other - the writing is spot-on when it comes to these elements. And let's not forget the good boy that is Blackie.

All in all, this is very much an ensemble-driven series that, like the best of them, has characters you care about passionately, worry about, laugh with and yes, even mourn alongside.

I am REALLY enjoying this series. It is much deeper than your typical paranormal. Yes everyone falls in love like they are supposed to, but there are plot twists that I did NOT see coming!
The whole "secret society" has been done ad nauseam but really, this is a terrific series and a highly enjoyable read! :-)
I am excited that I have the other books in the series. This is one prolific author... kind of like Nora Roberts, who I enjoy as well. :-)

I enjoyed this book just as much as the first two in the series. A fast paced, entertaining read that is everything paranormal romance should be.
