This is a MUST read for literally anyone living in this crazy country. I’ve seen first had the ways in which poc are hospitalized compared to their white counterparts. This book does not blame or point fingers at anyone - which I find can happen with these types of books. It simply states the science and evidence behind racism in healthcare.

This book is especially vital in today’s society. I highly recommend this book for anyone pursing a career in health care or someone wanting to educate themselves in the many ways poc or affected by systemic racism.

Good book, solid suggestions, but there were some parts that reminded me why I hate reading memoirs…not that that’s what this was supposed to be. Still, there were parts where the bias was overwhelming, which leads me to question what other bias I’m missing.

This is a powerful book- one of those that I can feel permanently altering my worldview as I read. The journalistic approach really works- the author gives us gripping case studies and supports them with no shortage of data. Without being too heavy-handed about it, she also integrates her own personal experiences in healthcare, in her career, and even just in her personal life and development.

I've written down a lot of the things I've learned reading this book so I don't forget them. It feels like an  important piece of work, and I'll be keeping tabs on the these topics in the news going forward.
