One of my students asked me if I wanted to borrow and read this book and it warmed my heart. It’s a real cute book, but the 5 stars are for the memory alone.

This second part doesn't really live up to the first one, but still good!

A solid follow-up to the first. I personally preferred the more general classic fantasy and folkore-inspired worlds of the last book to some of the ones here (e.g. a world made out of candy or toys) but they're still unique and creative all the same. I guess that the Kingdom of Fantasy can really just literally be anything.

Things this book improves upon with last book is how it utilizes it's main cast of characters; Whereas last book new additions to the cast were somewhat forgotten by the narrative after they ended up joining Geronimo's club, here all characters are utilized quite well and get their time to shine.

The story is also filled to the brim with moral lessons, and while obviously not a bad thing I prefer the much more subtle ways in which the first installment delivered its morals: just by telling the story and letting everyone draw their own conclusions about the morals and themes. Here, there's entire sections where the morals are literally spelled out to the reader. I get that these are books aimed at younger readers, but kids aren't stupid, either. Give them some credit.

Another book that was devoured by my children who clambered into my lap eagerly for "just one more chapter" each night. These books are just so cute! Also, the sneaky vocabulary lessons are great.
