This book was wonderful, and absolutely beautifully written (I tabbed so many quotes).  It's suspenseful and a little creepy, but it's about hope and family and healing and grief.

There was one scene in particular that felt a little heavy handed, but it didn't diminish how much I truly enjoyed reading this book with my book club.

Interesting paranormal read that focuses on family and relationships while paying homage to Cree culture.

Mackenzie, a young Cree woman, wakes up one morning to find a severed crows head in her hands, a horrifying remnant from a nightmare. Plagued by dreams of her sister who died unexpectedly a year prior, this isn't the first time she's brought back tokens from her dreams. Searching for answers, Mackenzie returns to her hometown to ask her family for help, but three years away has left her feeling estranged. In reconnecting with her family, she begins to unravel the mystery of what really happened to her sister...and the terrible truth behind her dreams.

While the premise is intriguing, the writing was middling and riddled with cliches. There are scenes that are downright creepy but it's suspenseful to a fault, as the pacing is frustratingly slow. There is a strong focus on familial relationships and grief. This book is female centered and features a non-binary character. Overall, this book was okay.
