3.75

The book was very enjoyable and I liked the story and how the characters grew together, it was a bit repetitive at times (especially in the first half) with the background story of the mfc. However the final plot twist was amazing! Reason for the 3.75 starts instead of 4 is that I personally prefer more badass characters rather than more soft ones but I'm excited to read the second book once it comes out!

The writing is so bad. There is no consistent tone or style. It feels like a draft of a book with great potential.

this book took me to another dimension, it was amazing. the characters are well written with a lot of story behind them. you want a enemies to lovers trope? this book has it. you want a grumpy x sunshine trope? this book has it. here you have everything you wish for in a book, even crime and smut

I just couldn’t follow the writing at times (3rd person) and the story was progressing at a weird rate. And it was just not pulling me in at all.

This book delighted me! I found out about this through the author's tik tok, which showed up on my page with only a handful of likes. It sounded like it was up my alley so I grabbed it on kindle unlimited.

For starters, I love magic and murder mysteries, especially combined. Obviously fated mates are a big plus, and don't even get me started on the positive queer representation here! There was also an incredible amount of joy associated with womanhood throughout the book, which seems uncommon in fantasy, but really spoke to me and definitely heightened the story in a big way. This certainly did not read like a debut novel, and I'm eagerly anticipating what comes next in this series and from this author in general!

thank you to the author for sending me an ARC of this book!

this book was an absolute rollercoaster of feelings and moments, the characters are all so interesting and the plot kept me hooked the entire way through. i loved the mix of old and new, as well as learning about all the different characters lives and they they dealt with the issues they were facing. the divine energy, slow burn romance, and femininity in this book all play key roles, and are all explored incredibly. the spicy scenes were so fun to read, and i’m obsessed with a certain man’s piercing 👀. the representation in this book was incredible: polyamory, diverse characters, bisexuality, talk of grief and child loss and more (can’t remember of the top of my head 🫠). i would make sure to check tw before reading as it does deal with some heavier themes. the setting was absolutely beautiful, and it was an incredible fantasy book with found family and plenty of secrets

That is easily one or the best books I have ever read. It is so unique and positive it just feels like a warm hug while still making you feel every other emotion. I love the characters so much, I want to be part of their friend groups. The romance was great. I love how positive it is including body positive and sex positive. It has so much representation. You won’t find another book like this. And the mystery aspect was so good it kept me on my toes. The plot twists were insane. This is a new fav easily.
