All in all, kinda disappointing. I just didn't feel like there was much heat--or any real feeling--between Stone and Brooke. Brooke was just too young, uncomfortably so given Stone's whole motivation comes from being an abused and trafficked child. I don't enjoy reading romance/erotica and thinking "Eww, don't get together yet; don't go that far" the whole time.

The rushed ending sucked for me, too. It feels like this was originally intended to be a longer series, but plans changed for whatever reason and everything had to be wrapped up within a few pages. It wasn't satisfying.

I really loved this book. More than the first one.. even though I did think that Brooke was a bit young for Stone I still loved them and I loved the book!!!!

Okay wow. Hostage was an amazing follow up to Prisoner, the first book in the Criminals & Captives series. This book follows Stone, the somewhat insane and definitely damaged leader that was introduced in Prisoner. I loved his story so much. This story was different than the first in that the main female character, Brooke, is introduced to Stone at her sixteenth birthday, making the plot span over several years. I really liked how the authors set this up. Their initial contacts are by no means completely innocent, but it was really interesting to see how the characters interacted when Brooke was sixteen, and how their relationship developed over the months and years since their first meet. The timeline starts before and extends beyond the timeline of book 1. This gave us a lot of insight into why Stone acted the way he did in the first book regarding Abby and Grayson's relationship.
Watching Stone develop feelings for Brooke was amazing. He starts off as such a closed off angry man who is only out for revenge, but develops into a guy who learns to put those he cares about over his own vendetta.
Hostage is one of the rare sequels thats just as amazing as the first book in the series. I am definitely looking forward to the rest of this series!!

Stone seemed like a very different person in this book. It was a little slow in the beginning but once I hit 75% things were moving and I really enjoyed it. This book goes back in time when Grayson was first behind bars. I figured it would continue where Prisoner left off but that happened around the time I started to enjoy the story.

Dark romance

Nothing like a dark and gritty romance to read and enjoy. Well worth the price in my eyes. I read this in one sitting and enjoyed it. Girl gets kidnapped by boy, boy stalks girl, girl falls for boy with a fun HEA.

a few problems i had with this book… this man is in his mid to late 20s and is such a perv i can’t. like… he literally exploited this girls attraction to him and basically groomed her from the time she was 16. 16!!!!

the plot was actually very interesting and i literally had no idea what was going to happen from one chapter to the next.

also, Jacob Morgan narrated this book and y’all already know i can’t resist his voice

Loved

Read this right after reading Prisoner. Such a good book. Has dark themes to it but that is what makes this book so good. I am hoping for more books in the series. Would really like to see Nate's story. Definitely will read more by this author.
