I think I might hate the “guy falls in love with girl without realizing it’s secretly his best friend” trope. It just feels like it cheapens a relationship? Especially when the beginning of it relies on a lie.
I want to give this book the benefit of the doubt because I was entertained at times, but I didn’t like the main plot and I think that’s pretty damning. Maybe I’m just starting to fade away from my romance era but I couldn’t swallow the charm of this one.

Solid 3.5 - it was a rough start to the book but I really liked how the main character develops and becomes a more mature version of herself. I love the group of guy friends too. I would LOVE a spin off novel - maybe about Chris??

I could relate to the main character in that we are both basically emotionally constipated. I liked the main romance of turning from friends to lovers, it is a bit more realistic and the fact that is set in Santa Barbara! Somewhere super close to home
