I did not finish this book, it is very long and explains a lot of studies that did nothing for me. I did, however, learn a lot from what I did read. Worth it, as far as you can get.

Super interesting read! I feel like at a base level I knew sleep was important, but probably not just HOW important. It really has everything to do with our health. This book was full of interesting facts. (Read for Central Book Club)

Interesting subject. Book just fell flat. Walker's explanations were clear and he made the research easy to understand, but it still felt like a slog to get through content that could actually be really fascinating. If you're looking for tips on how to sleep better, skip to the appendix and read the one page dedicated to that topic. The rest of the book is nice background for WHY those tips work.

There are a lot of interesting concepts brought up: impacts of early start times on children, capitalist pressure to sleep less and get more done, how technology and modern society effects our sleep. But these are mostly at the end of the book, and come too little too late for redemption.

Eye-opening! No pun intended. I'm not only going to change my sleep goals but I'm going to do a better job at protecting my kids' sleep. It's amazing how much is impacted by sleep. I've already been preaching to my friends and family about the messages in this book... I hope the author is successful in changing policies and norms for schools, businesses, and hospitals. I'm definitely going to teach my kids how important it is knowing they likely won't be taught in school.
