I received this book for free from my work when I was promoted to manager position. Some interesting advice but this book really isn’t targeted at first time managers... the target audience seems to be someone who’s at the level of department lead (at least a second-line manager) and either moving to a different group within their current company, or moving between companies. Lots of focus on politics and social dynamics at that level. Not especially useful for me... maybe will come back to it at a different point in my career.

It's a quick good prep when you are starting a new job as a manager. Help you to think through the model/situation what you are hired for (sometimes you need to figure out yourself).

Extremely helpful for anyone mid to senior level making a transition to a new job, particularly if you are leading and/or managing a team.

slow-paced
Hands down one of the worst books I have read in my time on this planet

DNF - Got through 3/4.
Everything in this book seemed like common knowledge and/or dated advice. It should've been titled "Doing the Bare Minimum in Management". I gained a few key takeaways from it but I would certainly not recommend this to anyone; there are many better books on this topic out there! Maybe this was relevant information for management in 2013, but only a decade later, it certainly isn't anymore.
