It did not, I am not, and I most certainly will not. I can now proceed with my existence in peace 😂 Well, that and the appearance of two of my least favorite plot points/tropes of ALL TIME appearing in the next few books. And that I hate all of the characters.
I am going to be honest, though, I did not have a Shai-Hulud guest appearance on my bingo board.

It's one of those books that's so hyped up and I've seen absolutely everywhere - I just neeeeeded to know what all the fuss was about!! On the whole, I enjoyed the book (definitely helped to be buddy reading it!).
There were a few negatives: a lot of 'convenient moments' throughout (did our FMC achieve anything much on her own?!) where people appeared at just the right moment every time to help, and a fair amount of repetition of certain words, phrases and info. I also got a bit confused by all the different types of fae, especially the ones that appeared once and not really again.
As far as the villain goes, she didn't seem very well 'fleshed out;' I couldn't really grasp what she was trying to achieve or why and she came across as more petty and jealous than powerful and calculated to me.
However, the story was fun & the characters were generally pretty interesting. A fair amount of twists and turns that kept me waiting to see what would happen and a setting/world I could imagine quite easily (which is always good). It was fun and I had fun reading it!
Will I be continuing the series - probably!
** Worth noting that I went straight into this book from A Day of Fallen Night, which had very intricate world and character building - which is possibly why this felt a little clumsy at times as I unfortunately did draw a few comparisons.

Tamlin and Feyre, and Lucien and Feyre, believably grow closer over the duration of the book. The second half of the book is by far better written and more intriguing. I appreciate the fairytale-retelling themes coming though, but the brutality of some scenes throughout the first half of the book was really jarring.
Overall, I think I’ll just have to read the next book and see where the story takes me
