One of those stories where love doesn’t have to make sense, it’s just what feels right

Argh, another cliffie! But what a story! Kandy left for the University of Notre Dame and left her parents and Cane behind in Georgia. She was determined to move on, repair her relation with her parents and try to forget Cane because it was all just so impossible. Kelly was blackmailing them both, so Kandy and Cane decided it was best if she left for University and he would try to deal with the situation. The problem was, that Kelly had rigged Cane’s office and saw their passionate goodbye and decided to do something about it and the situation with Kandy’s parents went nuclear.

While Kandy and Cane are apart, Kandy acquires new friends in University and there’s a boy who wants to start something with her. She needs to decide if she can move on and pursue a relation with Brody or wait for Cane.

Cane, apart from dealing with Kelly, who is more psycho every day, now has his mother and sister who have arrived to live near him. They are also dealing with his father’s menace against his company. He was an abusive husband and father and his mother is easily subjugated. Furthermore, his business took a hit after the scandal when Derek attacked him during a business function. He is dealing with many problems and hasn’t been attentive to Kandy.

There’s a lot of angst because Kandy feels a lot of guilt over the heartache she’s causing her parents. When she’s with Cane, everything feels right and she feels that’s where she ought to be; however, when they’re apart she hurts for her parents. Cane missed his friends and the fun times they had together. Due to the respect he feels for Derek, he feels guilt, but he loves Kandy too much to break up with her. It’s really an impossible situation, where all the persons involved act selfishly out of love, wanting things to happen their way. I’d like to comment about Kandy’s attitude that she’s an adult and can do as she pleases. She may be nineteen and consider herself an adult, but she depends financially on her parents, so she really can’t do as she pleases. In this matter she sometimes seemed selfish and immature.

Kandy and Cane were great together, they were really in love. There are some really hot sexy times in this book. Cane was very supportive to Kandy, even when she was ranting about their situation. He was the most understanding of all the characters; at one moment he accepted that he was not good enough for Kandy but since she’d chosen him, he would love her and strive to be the man she needed.

The story was very riveting as the Kandy and Cane deal with all the problems that stand in the way of their love. There are old enemies in Cane’s life, the psycho ex-girlfriend who won’t let go of Cane, some of the new classmates in Kandy’s University that plot against her, her parents who only wish to help her but don’t support her feelings. It’s a huge mess and for a moment it felt like the plot wasn’t moving and going in circles. Then we get a surprise plot twist and the spectacular cliffhanger, so we’re left hanging (excuse the pun) and waiting for the next installment. Great story and great characters, so true to life!

I am so in love with this story and with Mr. Cane. This is definitely one of my favorite series so far this year. I am on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what will happen next. That ending! I was speechless. This story had me holding my breath. It had me swooning. It had me wanting to throw my kindle. It took me through all the emotions. I am definitely looking forward to read more from Shanora and from this series!

⭐️ 5+ "When It Feels Right" Stars ⭐️
After the way Wanting Mr. Cane concluded, I was so eager to finally get my hands on Breaking Mr. Cane. Shanora Williams has a way to get you hooked on her stories and this novel blew my mind! I was expecting to love it, but it was even better than I could have wanted! Through sorrow, desire, love, drama, Kandy and Cane’s story continues with everything in place to get you completely addicted!

"When you're with someone you love, they are your escape from the madness of the real world."

Their love is once again tested in this second installment when they are separated while Kandy is away at college. You feel them both struggle with this distance and trying to move on like they promised each other. That first part of the book helps exploring more in depth both characters and understand their forbidden fascination! It really got to me seeing them both apart, but I felt their deep-rooted love flowing through the pages.

I loved discovering more about Cane’s tough past. He is so mysterious and has a dark aura surrounding him, but he slowly exposes a little more of his background in this book. He’s imposing and magnetic, but every time he’s with Kandy you feel him melt under her charm. Kandy once again shows an impressive maturity for her age! She weights the choices and actions she makes, but still has this genuine innocence. She tries to move on by embracing her college life, but her heart isn’t totally there. You clearly feel the missing parts of her with the absence of Cane!

"We belong together, our hearts like magnets, always holding on, hard to pull apart."

This star-crossed couple gave me chills from his beauty! In spite of the age gap and the circumstances of this unconventional bond, this book demonstrates superbly the palpability of Kandy and Cane’s love! They bring the heat to a new level with an atmosphere charged with searing lust, but also profound affection. I loved that they are so transparent toward each other about what this relationship means to them! They bare their hearts and souls and it’s spectacular to witness!

Breaking Mr. Cane features a lot of electrifying drama with threats about exposing Cane’s gloomy past, but also with Kandy’s parents fuming about Cane’s deceit with their daughter. I was so excited when Draco Molina, The Venom Trilogy’s main protagonist was mentioned! Those books are one of my absolute favorite dark romances, so I can’t wait to see how those two series will merge together. We had little peeks at Cane’s relationship with Draco, but the whole plot will be explored in the next novel and I’m ecstatic. I’m sure this upcoming book will be explosive!

"I know you have many flaws, but I can accept them because I love you."

Shanora Williams entranced me with this exhilarating and touching story that ended on a blinding cliffhanger. The wait will undeniably be excruciating for the release of Loving Mr. Cane in September! Do yourself a favor and read this prodigious romance, you won’t regret it!

This series is a welcome surprise. I had no idea what it was about but saw the first 2 books were free on Audible and now I’m hooked!
SO fricking GOOD!
This may be a series I pick up and re-read as a quick comfort series.
And that cliff hanger!
In the words of Whoopi - Kandy, you in danger girl!

This book featured the well-known phenomenon I like to call the Second Book Breakup, where the couple is broken up for the majority of the second book of a romance series. If you need more examples of this phenomenon, please don’t hesitate to ask.

The fact that the school kicked her out because her Nice Guy of an ex-"Friend" took pictures of her kissing an older dude is wackodoodle.

I low-key don’t want to read the next book because I swear to God if there’s any more will-they-won’t-they, I’ll riot. I’m TIRED.

Still good, a very fast easy read, gave 4.5 bc I think the plot in this one didn’t need to be separate book. Loved the smut and the romance in this one.

Not as good as book 1 because they spent so much time apart.
