This was my first ever audiobook. I think the audiobook format for this book was the best because I was able to enjoy the story in a quicker manner than I could have actually read it. To me, this helped the story flow best and keep me interested. I did think that this book had a slow-starting pace and did not get suspenseful until about 70% of the way through. However, once it did start to get suspenseful I could not stop listening!
I think that the author did a great job of building her characters and getting the reader (or listener) involved in the story before the big finish. The ending was not quite what I had expected, but I did like how the story ended a bit open-ended especially since the whole book was full of open-ended endings to chapters.

Nice little whodunnit mystery! The “who” was a little predictable, but the “why” had a neat twist that I didn’t see coming!
Blair’s sister’s deathbed confession leads her into the 15 year old murder of her childhood best friend. As she seeks to exonerate the man currently serving a prison sentence for the murder, she enlists the help of a former cop who worked the case back then and tried not to stir up too many bad feelings in the tiny town she used to call home.

Where do I even begin?! This book, kept me on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole time.
Molly mysteriously is found dead after leaving Blair’s house when her Uncle Ellis kicks her out. Fast forward to 15 years later, Celeste, Blair’s older sister is on her death bed and confesses that Molly’s “killer” isn’t really her killer! So now Blair has to find out who the real killer is.
With no help from the wrongfully imprisoned Yusef, a local attorney or the Chief of Police, Blair decides to hire a Private Investigator to help her figure out what really happened 15 years ago.
Its always the person you least expect it to be, when the story unfolds and Joe was finally named the Killer my mouth dropped! With Joe having a prisoner for 15 years; Ariel, and her having Joe’s baby, Trista the story of her adbuction was very sad and upsetting. To know Molly was only trying to help Ariel, because that’s the kind of person she was, but it caused her to fall victim to Joe’s hand.
Thanks to Blair not giving up, both Ariel and Yusef are now free!
Definitely a must read!

This was honestly terrible. I’m unsure who was reviewing it but the story was bad, the characters and development were bad, the repetitive writing was also bad. Not one thing about this book was enjoyable. I finished it only to see the outcome but I wish I could get all those minutes back. The best way to describe this book is when a 7 year old wants to tell you a story about something and the story is about absolutely nothing but also took them 45 minutes to tell you. Not to forget the incongruities within the book, the things that don’t make sense: did the cell phone never ring and go to voicemail or was it ringing for the whole ringtone in a field? Is the child a toddler or is the child having full on conversations with adults like a 10 year old? Just awful

3 1/2 stars, as at first the characters felt clunky and cliche and some of the love interests seemed unnecessary. The book grew on me as the story progressed, and was a good, quick read.

The girl in the woods by Patricia Macdonald l give this book 3.5 stars
Blairs best friend is murdered, years later her sister confesses to a lie she told. This story is Blairs mission to free a man serving time for the killing and hunt down the real killer who got away with it.
An enjoyable read, not quite a thriller more a mystery. The story moves along at a good pace and l didn't guess the ending.
