Can we all talk about the bath tub scene, though? Because my mind is still there.

This was a heart warming, quick, enemies to lovers book. My favorite trope of all time. I just love the clashes and angst among the sensual tension that is felt through the whole novel.

The book follows Annika who is a small business owner that has created an app called Make Up (kudos to the author for creating a powerful, strong, smart and creative female!). During a conference in Vegas (that takes place before the book starts) we found out she "hooked up" with a man there named Hudson Craft (gotta use his full name since she always does).. During this drunken intimate filled week with him, she shares her idea of the app and all of her secrets. They go their separate ways.

Hudson, in the meantime, creates an app called Break Up and steals Annika's idea (or so she thinks). Enemies are born. Come to find out, her enemy is moving his office into the same building her office is in. Oh, the angst.

Her business is failing. His business is thriving. One is meant to keep people together and the other is meant to tear people apart. They have to compete with each other in a contest (which Annika really needs to win to get money for her business)... who will win?

I was on my toes reading this book. I could feel the anger, I could feel the tension and I really enjoyed the characters. I found Hudson really snooty and demeaning in the beginning, wasn't sure I would like him. Then I found out his story and my heart melted a little. I also enjoyed Annika and her passion for her business (although her father kinda ticked me off).

I loved the story and I loved the ending. I was smiling so big. And yeah, that bath scene....

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy of book!

I found my heart flutter each time Annika and Hudson interact. It’s so obvious what misunderstanding had happened right away. This blatant fact made the anticipation almost torturous. Usually I enjoy figuring out what had happened slowly as the book unfolds. It almost feels like a spoiler, but this approach had me speed reading to figure out when they would figure it out so they can finally “make up”.

Maybe it’s the competitive nature in me, but a win isn’t a win if the competition withdraws.

I've followed Sandhya Menon's work for a while, so I was curious to see what her debut adult novel would be like. Unfortunately, it really didn't work for me. Certainly, I was really into parts, but overall I found the plot relied much too heavily on misunderstandings and coincidences for my taste. It took a long time for me to warm up to the characters, and by the time I did, my heart just wasn't into it.

Tech in books - especially with app development, is always something that I always find very hit or miss. For me, this was a miss. I'm still not 100% sure what role Annika took in the development of Make Up because her friend was doing all the programming. I know obviously that she was the CEO and had the initial idea, but I would have actually preferred her to be playing a much more active role in something she was so passionate about. Plus, honestly, the idea of the app is actually kind of terrifying; I can only imagine the horrifying possibilities for misuse.

Make Up Break Up is a fine example of how to write hate to love romance. The plot, the banter and moral messages are real. Misses Menon writes a realistic story with setting in modern time.

There are so much moral messages in the story. Gender equality, family, pride and prejudice. And most of all the chemistry between Anika and Hudson. Their prank is funny and real. Their connection is also hot even though I wish for more deeper drama between them.

Overall this is a wonderful story.

Easy read. Captivating. A bit predictable but not till the end. Overall I really enjoyed it!
