This book rocks. It's a young adult read, but totally sucked me in. The story-telling is truly amazing, and the scene in the underground cave rivals Harry Potter's adventures.

Ovviamente stra-consigliato.

The book is clearly of its time (2002) and the language used is irritating me a lot and I can't see past it.

The writing felt a little too much like info dumping most of the time. She explained every action the characters made and why they made it like she didn’t trust us to come to the right conclusion. It felt more like someone was giving a detached account of what happened and not like an actual engaging story. So while this is classified as young adult the writing really is more middle grade.

Also I know this was written in 2002 but im not sure how to feel about the way she wrote about the natives in this book. The tone is definitely not negative but it felt a little icky sometimes idk
