Would’ve given this a five, except that I was frustrated by the ending. Storytelling was well done. All throughout the book, I had more information than any of the characters at any point in the story, but still, there were multiple red herrings to get through. And even though I had parts figured out in advance, including what really happened that night, which was only revealed at the very end, I was frustrated because there were multiple time lines, and the present time line was too abrupt for me.

What small tragedies their lives had turned out to be.

I loved the book and definitely points where I could not put it down. It is a POV book with the characters set in different years but there is crossover on characters between the 2 POVs. If you don’t listen to her podcast Crime Junkies the ending is a bit of a cliff hanger but they say a line similar in a lot of their episodes so it made sense to me and I was ok with it.

I'm so so notorious for giving everything 5 stars and it may just be because I love Crime Junkie but this book is now in my top 5. I think it was very well written and the twists all shocked me (even if I did figure out a couple). And THAT ENDING.  Our story follows a duel timeline with Margot in 2019, trying to solve not only the murder of her childhood friend but also the murder of another child; and on the other side we have Krissy in the 90's who discovers her child, January, dead in her own home. This book is so twisty and so great. If you like Crime Junkie (or not, I don't know your life), murder mysteries and shocking twists and turns out of your thrillers, give this book a try. This was Ashley Flowers very first novel and she absolutely killed it in the best way. (Pun intented).

I enjoyed the book and was surprised by the ending. Though I would have liked a more definitive ending, I liked being surprised by who the murderer was. I do wonder though
if Officer Wallace was a red herring or why she was in the book but not mentioned with the serial child murderer. Was it because of the time gap?
Overall it was a twisty thriller that I enjoyed, with just that one plot hole.
