This was super cute, if a little formulaic. The basic plot felt very similar to book 1, but I really did enjoy these characters. I thought they were really cute, and I liked how their relationship developed.

I also liked how much Newgate+Gavin content we got. Not to mention cameos by some of the Brooklyn players.

And, of course, the interior design aspect made my heart really happy. I loved that we got a super realistic Interior Designer character. The amount of detail Bowen put into this made me smile big.

I am very much looking forward to book 3!

10% in: If I read AGAIN that this designer really needs work and is broke... Got. It. Let's. Get. To. The. F*king. Plot. Already.

Overall:
There's only one part where there's more hockey than I prefer, that's a plus. And as usual, Bowen delivers the emotional hits I crave, and did not go into excruciating sex scene detail, for which I am always thankful. The real world conflicts felt real and were dealt with by actual adults, too. That's my favorite. The other characters are great, and T's mom is AWESOME. There's a lot to enjoy in this novel.

However, that initial note was so even though I knew I'd enjoy this, I'd also remember that some of her writing habits can be very irritating. The first three chapters really needed a better final edit pass. And the whole book could use the elimination of all the character action nonsense, like getting out of bed, or noticing something, or picking something up and on and on. It's all unnecessary clutter when we are aware that hands pick things up and how feeling things works and so on. This is basic writing craft stuff, and the author should've learned it by now.

But I still am glad I read it, and that's the important part.

For the most part well written, but there were some clunky parts. Loved the characters and their relationships with each other.

*I received a free copy of I'm Your Guy. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review which is honest and unbiased.*

I'm Your Guy worked so, so well for me! I fell in love with Tommaso and Carter as soon as I met them, and that feeling just continued to grow. They were definitely a case of opposites attract - at least it appeared so at first. However, as they got to know each other better - and I got to know them better - it was clear that they had quite a bit in common.

There were sightings of other hockey players from the Hockey Guys series, and most notably for me was Newgate and Gavin. However, Stoney and Coach are strong as well. And I definitely want to get to know them better in the future.

My favorite side characters were Gia, Tommaso's sister, and his mom. Of course, I also have to mention Rigu and Buck, Carter's best friends.

Overall, this is a feel-good romance, but there's also some activism to make life better for all LGBT+ athletes, and I'm here for it all.
