I really like John Green. I’ve been making my way through his books and going through a long overdue angsty reading John Green phase, just less the teenage angst. This book was definitely not a favorite but it was enjoyable and like all Green books, easy to read. I thought the idea of the illusions that we build up of people was an interesting idea to center this book on. The book lacked some depth because it did not build beyond that. But the reader very much felt Q’s disappointment in seeing all of Margo, not just the idealized one. But still somehow make peace with her selfishness and thoughtlessness. An enjoyable read would still recommend.

Me gustó mucho. Bastante entretenido y divertido.

This book was just "eh" for me. The beginning was great, and it was sometimes funny throughout, but I could not for the life of me get into the story. I could care less about finding Margo and I just couldn't get enveloped in the story. The black santas tho

So to give this book a good evaluation I gave 5 stars to like till the moment my kindle told me I was 89% through, and 1 star from 89% to the author's notes.
This is only the second book of John Green I've read. Thought I'm pretty certain it was a fantastic book because I've read it all through one night, I also hated it. So basically this book gave me two of the most powerful sensations I know, wonder and hatred.

*Spoilers*

I love unconventional stories all you like, and I knew she was alive, I knew she was not a "miracle", I knew they would've find her I knew it wouldn't last. What I didn't knew was how much it would've sicken me to read about her, to understand how meaningless she is to me or how much I think she's brave and headstrong and batshit crazy or how she's everything I would never wish I was. I can't like Margo or I only can like her for being unpredictably boring. She's the soul of the book, no other character, not even Quentin will leave a lasting sign in literacy history of JG's Books. No, Margo's in every page but in the end she's not, she's just tiny little reflections of thousands of broken mirrors. Nobody can see her, either on the inside or the outside, only one can find her but even him couldn't understand her. And in the end I still don't know wether she truly exist in the book.
She is at the same time a disappointment and a new discovery.
It is some trick to make you like hateful characters in the same measure as you hate them.
So enjoy the ride and then prepare for the bitter, sooo sore and tasteless disappointment of the end.

I'm pretty sure this book is something of a stand alone experience for me. I have loved it so far as 89% through and then, despite myself I hated it. Still it's remarkable when a single story can make you go through two of the strongest emotions there are.

spoilers below

I didn't think about the possibility of a happy ending for Q in terms of love. I get that Margo isn't a miracle, so I perfectly understood what John Green intended to do here. I don't particularly like Margo, even though I'm unable to dislike her bravery and her general allure or her drive for inspiration, her unapologetic attitude and the fact that she's batshit crazy makes her the last person I'd want to be. Putting everyone in despair and being so cryptical with the "reassurance clues" I don't know.
I love the way John Green explains through her words though it took a bit to sink in that we are no more than what people see in us and most of us can't escape that and those who try to are forgotten. I don't even know who Margo is really, to me she's a thousand reflections on a thousand shattered pieces of a mirror. Only one person dug deep enough into her mystery to physically find her but at the end even him misread her entirely.
So in terms of reading experience it's perfect for a binging marathon and then it just goes downhill from the halt moment to the end. I know that this book probably fed me a bitter medicine thay I didn't think I needed before, so that's why I cannot fully appreciate the ending, but it's just me.

"What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person"
Thank you John Green, I guess

Meh, i think it could’ve been better but i did like that they went separate ways, more realistic than other books that have similar plots
