Lane has isolated herself from the world and her anxiety and guilt keeps her from living her life. On a whim, she purchases a school bus to renovate into a home. She enlists her friend Matt to help her.

This was a cute book. I liked this one a bit more than the first. There were still some super cheesy moments, but also some very heartwarming ones too. The push and pull between Matt and Lane was filled with so much tension.

I appreciate that Lane recognized that in order to be fully present in their relationship she needed to start the process of healing her own trauma. I think that without going through that process she never could have been in a place where she truly felt safe and happy.

Matt was just the sweetest, most thoughtful, and compassionate man. He was incredibly selfless and so patient with Lane. I liked that he never pushed her to be who she wasn't or to be in a place she wasn't ready for. The letters... so adorable!

I wish the bus had played more of a role in the story. It's so built up that she bought this bus and all we get is a bit of reno scenes and a little peak into their road trip. The ending felt quite rushed, I wished we would have spent more time with them on their drive home. Could have made for some very interesting and emotional conversations.

Tropes: friends to friends with benefits to lovers, opposites attract, cinnamon role MC, road trip

this was really cute. i thought i wasn’t going to like the fmc but she actually wasn’t too annoying. we have matching daddy issues so that helped. and speaking of dead dads, i really like the role it played in this book. there were lots of good references (taylor swift, twilight, and legally blonde). i also feel like i need to read jane eyre now. the beginning and the middle had me giggling but the last 30ish% kinda made me cringe but it was pretty good overall

I wasn’t expecting to cry 😭 and have tears in my eyes, but these two characters made me cry. I haven’t had my eyes wet in a a long minute. This was a journey of a friends to lovers love story and my did I enjoy my time here.

This was so good! I knew I needed Matt and Lane's story after reading about them in the Next of Kin's epilogue. Matt was THE book boyfriend we all dream about. His love language is acts of service and he would literally do anything for Lane, including helping her renovate a school bus to live in. Yes, really! Lane is such a wonderful girl and woefully misunderstood. She feels responsible for her father's death and because of that, sometimes is impulsives, make a mess of her life and thinks she isn't worthy of love. Matt and Lane start off as just friends, but it's so clear that they have feelings from the very beginning, deciding instead to put their friendship first and not mess things up. I loved seeing Warren and Chloe again and our precious little Willow! How cute is she? I loved the family aspect of this, both Matt's huge, loving and close family, and Lane's strained relationship with her sister and complicated feelings towards her deceased father. Overall, I loved everything about this book and I cannot wait for more from this author. P.S. I hope we get a book for Liz!
