This gets a solid 5 stars. This was an enchanting retelling of King Thrush ears and was very well done! I absolutely love retellings of this tale as they just seem to be so romantic to me. I loved how light and beautiful the romance was between Marenna and Corin. Though this is a clean, light and fluffier read, it was enchanting and heartwarming. I loved Marenna's character and just how authentic she was. She wanted to prove herself capable to Corin and strived to be a worthy wife. My only complaint is that towards the reveal at the end, I felt as though the stakes could have been a little higher. I felt as though the Duke got away with things waaay too easily and that Marenna should have been more upset than what she was. Putting that aside though, the ending wrapped everything up nicely. Overall, it was a fun, light read that I would recommend.

Marenna and Corin are getting their turn in the limelight.

I can truly say this fairytale was a new one to me! Corin had been thrown over by a princess in favour of another royal. Now 2 years later he turns up at Marenna's father's estate and she slights him.
Whilst it wasn't intentional, Marenna doesn't strike me as malicious just a bit...well clueless. She just expects stuff to be done and doesn't think too much about how it happens. But when she ends up married to the very man she slighted, even if she doesn't know it, she may just learn a lesson in humility.

Corin treats Marenna well whilst still making her work hard. She make friends with those less fortunate than her and become happy with her lot. Well written, engaging characters and a fitting finale!
