There were a few style choices that the author made that I didn't love - framing one part as Greek tragedy being one - but overall it's a must read. Particularly for those in higher education who want to make it a more equitable and welcoming space

Really great memoir about the experiences Martis lived through at Western University, and the on-going notion of racism still present in campus life - great conversations of r*pe culture, racism, bi-racial identity, and being a Black student in a predominantly White city.

The best word I can think of to describe this book is eye-opening which is horrible. Hearing about Eternity's and other Black students experiences when going to university was gross and disgusting and it makes me wonder how much stuff I wasn't paying attention to as a white student at Ottawa U.

There were a lot of quotes I wrote down to think on more and this one in particular got to me:
"We use our rage to push the causes of everyone else - uplifting other women, standing up for the rights of Black men- but in return, who's angry for us?"

Would definitely recommend.

TW: rape, racism, binge drinking
