I have read and enjoyed all of Catherine’s books. However, I have to say this is probably my least favourite.

I found myself completely gripped from the start, with no real explanation into what is going on and how the 3 perspectives are linked, I had to find out more. It follows Corinne, Adam and Romain who all play different roles in telling the story.

I honestly didn’t see the ending coming. I kinda had an idea into what had happened to Sarah about halfway through the book so that reveal wasn’t a surprise, but all the other ones were.

However, in terms of the writing, I found the first 2/3rds well paced but then the last third just seemed a bit rushed to get to the ending.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to seeing what else Catherine publishes!

Distress Signals is her debut. Adam’s girlfriend Sarah doesn’t return from a business trip. Desperate to find out what has happened he begins to investigate himself, discovering their relationship wasn’t as rosy as he thought. Interspersed with Adam’s sections are some from a child called Romi. His sections seemed to interrupt the main story arc but he was a compelling character and of course the storylines did converge. Overall though it felt like there was a bit too much happening plot wise to make a fully satisfying read. My key take home was to avoid cruises since they seem to fall into a legal no-man’s land.
