From the opening page, I knew I'd have trouble leaving a review. Burned is as explosive as its title and it isn't easy to convey all the brilliant parts without spoiling it for a new reader. With that in mind, I will attempt to dissect this book without giving away any of the things that make it so special.

As the story unfolds, Penny is rolling into Billington to attend an appointment with her former child advocate who handle her case when she was in care. Penny reveals to us that she's sceptical that she'll get the answers she needs as the woman is acerbic and usually uncooperative. The meeting is cut short when the woman abruptly leaves the interview, runs out the door and dies in the street. It appears that the Raven has struck again.

And, wow, that's only the beginning of the excitement. It just builds and builds. As always, Penny has TC for encouragement and the assistance of a new friend or two. Penny is her usual caring selfless spirit while the Raven wreaks the destruction we've come to expect. I enjoy this series for the colossal entertainment value that each book holds - when I'm reading one of Sarah Hualde's stories, people know not to disturb me!

Highly recommended as a splendid paranormal almost cosy.

Thank you to BookSirens and Sarah Hualde for the opportunity to review this eARC. My opinions are left freely and are, as always, honest and true.

After reading and listening to Grounded by Sarah Hualde I knew this one was going to be a good read too.

Burned sees Penny return to Billington a town a few miles from where she spent time in Foster care. She's in town to seek answers from her child advocate Dinah.
Whilst in town the Raven makes an appearance but not in the normal expected way.

I love the character of Penny and the way these novels turn into a mystery, this one a who dunnit mystery.

Burned is the 6th book of the series however I have only read book 1 before this. I don't know if reading book 6 has spoiled anything in between but I felt like reading Burned didn't cause any confusion. So I assume they can be read as a standalone.

I really enjoyed this novel, it's cosy and once you start it you can't put it down. It's such an easy read. I look forward to reading more of them
