What can I say about The Wives? This book made me question everything! At first I attempted to read the first chapter but then I decided I couldn’t so I ended up reading another book. When I got done with that book, I decided to see if I can read it again. The first part of the book (you could call it) was that the main character who we do not learn her name until the middle of the book itself (around chapter 16 I believe). This book is about a woman who claims that her husband is a polygamist. But we later figure out what we find out her name that is most definitely not the case. There is three wives altogether, Seth is the husband; he has his wife “Monday“ (third wife), “Tuesday" (first wife) and then the main character “Thursday” (second wife). She calls them by days of the week because that’s the days he spends time with each woman. “Thursday” finds a doctor visit receipt for “Monday” that Seth forgot to take out of his pants pocket since she’s apparently pregnant. “Thursday” can’t help herself and goes to see what she looks like on the Internet. She goes as far to meet the woman who has no clue who she is. “Thursday” sees that there are bruises on “Monday’s” s arm when they end up meeting. She wants to get to the bottom of what is happening since they have the same husband. When “Thursday” goes home after their visit, she finds Seth there. Seth and “Thursday” get in this argument which turns violent and lands “Thursday” in the hospital.

This Chapter is where we start learning the truth. Does Seth have 3 Wives? Is it all made up? What happened to “Monday”? Is she alright? Is “Thursday” crazy?

The last two chapters will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Ok WTF was that. I was enjoying the first half but then the second half was just terrible. I won't say what exactly enraged me bc spoilers but wow what a lazy plot device, especially for a thriller. I was hoping there would be a big reveal at the end to bring it all back, but no. Terrible, lazy writing although I admit, it was compelling to read. But so lazy with SO MANY plot holes. Ugh. 2 stars, only redeeming factor being the binge-ability.

Two stars because it's a page turner. One needs to find out what happens.

I have a lot of strong feelings about this right now.

This book came at me with all sorts of stereotypes about ideal women and victims of violence. It was an ode to gaslighting and totally utilized gross catchphrases about what women are willing to endure in their lives for men only to shit on the "crazy" female in the end who was just so out of touch with reality that how could the poor thing know any better? My blood is boiling.

What in the twisted, dark daydream did I just read? This book has left my clinging to the very last page.

I am utterly horrified and mesmerized at each and every delicious twist.

Review in progress.

I’ll be honest. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I thought it was gonna be just another polygamy story, boy was I wrong.

Hmmm. Just hmmm. I had to finish in one evening because I had to know where it was going. Usually I'm pretty good at figuring out what the twist will be (like a something to do with this or one or the other thing). Not with The Wives. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was glad I picked it up!

This book pulled me in from the very beginning. I never lost interest and twist after twist.

Oh my goodness! I literally just finished this book right before writing this review and I am shaken up. I almost don’t want to review this as it may spoil, so let me hit these points-

There is lots of talk about domestic abuse and pregnancy loss if this triggers you, these are discussed a lot.

Go into this cold. Don’t read too many reviews.

As the jacket states, this is about a woman seeking out the other wives in a polygamist relationship.

There is a book changing twist. I won’t say where or when in the book, but the book starts getting monotonous, trust me and stick with it because you are going on a rollercoaster. Buckle in.

Enjoy through to the end. Don’t take it too seriously.

I really enjoyed this.

I really don't know how to feel about this book. Started and finished it in a day, it was quite fast-paced but for a psychological thriller it was less than I expected it to be. It didn't reach the hype for me.
In a way it reminded me of The Wife Between Us maybe cause both plots were similar and predictable to me. The overall experience was enjoyable but it didn't fascinate me. It didn't make me think much to figure out what's happening. And I want a psychological thriller to put my mind to work hard.
Would I recommend it if someone asked me about a psychological thriller?
It definitely wouldn't be among the first books that'll cross my mind but still it has something that keeps your attention.
But I guess it's a matter of personal taste and I can see why some people love this book.
