But too dark for me, lots of TW AND CW. Good story though.

“A man without hope is a man without fear.”

“My name is Matt Murdock…I live in Hell’s Kitchen and do my best to keep it clean. That’s all you need to know.”

Daredevil: Born Again is one of the greatest comics of all time for good reason. This story was complex, introspective, sinister, and captured my attention from the first page. Frank Miller simply does not disappoint!!

Not my favorite Daredevil story but it's pretty good, specially considering time hasn't been kind to a lot of 80's comic books classics. Over the course of a few weeks after finding out that Matt Murdock is Daredevil, he drives him nut making him follow threads to dead ends as to who freezed his bank accounts while accusing him of fraud, forcing him to be a bum. So, DD has to get back on his feet and strike back. The art by David Mazzucchelli is oustading and really services the story.

a great run for sure! the story is definitely dark and challenging at times, but i couldn't put it down. which is saying a lot, since i rarely enjoy dark stories. it had its moments of lightness too, though. lines like "then santa claus stabbed me with a knife" and "okay, who took the muscles out of my legs? :/" had me cracking up even during one of the more depressing DD stories ive read.

the one thing that irked me was how fucking stupid glori got towards the end. people are dying, lady, please put the goddamn camera down holy shit??

What a fantastic... opening two acts :(

The novel engrossed me from the very first page. The premise of famed Daredevil villain: Kingpin, learning of Matt's identity and slowly tearing his life apart was incredibly gripping. Seeing Matt transcend into madness, paranoia and how that inflicted upon his relationships was really tense to see. It did a great job at posing Kingpin as a genuine threat, something that I personal struggle to see in a lot of stories, the villain feeling like an actual danger to our protagonist.

What let me down about the book was the final act. It felt rushed, convoluted and little bit off-key for how the story was being set up. Although I was excited to see other iconic Marvel characters make an appearance, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, the way it all unfolded felt a little odd. Instead of getting this cathartic conclusion of Daredevil outwitting, or taking down Kingpin in a entertaining way, we see what I feel was a serious events unfold that led to Kingpin's empire crumbling just that tiny bit. May have been intentional, and probably would need a couple of re-reads to fully comprehend, but upon initial reading fell a little flat. But i don't what that to take away from this really great read, and a great introduction to a character that I was only really familiar with from cartoons and TV.

People aggressively regard this as the "greatest Daredevil story of all time" and I'm like ??? Bro what?? It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be considering this is a comic from 1986 though but still. This is what season 3 of the show is based on so it was interesting to see which parts they adapted but the show does it better lol. I'm currently in a rewatch of season 3 and it truly is the best piece of television I have ever seen and nothing will top it. (Yes I have been spending all my time lately consuming only DD media.

I haven't read a lot of daredevil stories. Most of my information about his character come from the awesome TV series, and some of his most recent mini series. Born Again, is one of his most rated story arcs on Goodreads so I decided to give it a read. And what a read this has been.

Daredevil is driven almost insane by Kingpin's vengeance. When the powerful supervillain gets ahold of his secret identity, he slams Matt to the ground by rendering him homeless, careerless and moneyless.

Kingpin is shown to be relentless and cunning, however, in the end, his blind thirst for vengeance against Daredevil is the beginning of his demise.

There seem to be some gaps in the story, for example it's quite unbelievable that Karen would become a mere addict who would sell her lover's secret for a simple fix, or the romance between Foggy and Glori right after her breakup with Matt and some other details, too. Nonetheless, I found the plot to be quite satisfying.

Finally, the art-style despite being old-school, is very well drawn and accompanies the action very fittingly.
