I should know by now that the deeper we get in a series, the more Siobhan Davis is going to test our characters- and oh my do they get tested in book 3- SD throws so much at Alinthia and the men by her side. The stakes are increasingly larger and more dangerous- the tests more brutal and heart breaking. But nothing helps solidify the unity of a team, of a family, like adversity- and these characters only get more resolved, and stronger, with every hurdle that comes their way. But even better is that we see Alinthia start to stand more on her own- to lean into her full self. Especially she sufferers, isolated and alone. But the feelings between them all- oh lawdy, the floodgates are opening, the bonds are stronger, but they still have a few hurdles yet to go.

More secrets, painful betrayals, and twists abound. Enemies are multiplying, and sacrifices must be made. And, oh my heart, does Siobhan pull at our feelings. We’re recognizing that our beloved characters may indeed be up for the challenge- but the costs may be too great. This is an edge of your seat thriller- can’t get enough!

This was another installment that was pretty fast paced with lots of twists and turns that I didn't always see coming at me.

As always, I was impressed with the character growth that goes on throughout the novel.

This one dealt with a few more... serious matters, and I would caution you to be careful if you are at all sensitive to situations such as torture or sexual assault.

I enjoyed reading this, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

I am voluntarily reviewing complimentary Advance Readers Copy of this book. All of the thoughts and opinions that are expressed above are completely and totally %100 percent mine, and I have not been compensated in any way for this review

The cover is the first indication of the dramatic turn this book takes in the series. There is a lot more darkness and steaminess in this installment. I loved it on its own, although it moves quickly to upper YA.

This series is so good! I usually don’t read this type of paranormal book, but Siobhan has me hooked on Alinthia and her protectors. This book was gritty, and the boys being away from Alinthia has damaged all of them. I can’t wait to see where we go from here.

What I enjoyed the most about this read was Tori being active in what's happening. In the first two reads there were hints of her getting there...but it was hidden under meeting the guys, dealing with her destiny, powers. So it's really great to see her just go at it, and be in charge.

Her relationships with the guys deepen...but man do I wish Dane was her favourite and not Cooper. I look at this series and the relationships similarly to the Merry Gentry series [ there's real genuine care and affection for all of her guys, but the way it works with some is just different and more]. Totally a Dane fan here, and after everything that happens for Tori
Spoiler to spend the first night they're all together again with Cooper and not Dane, come one...seriously?! The one who needed the care and togetherness was Dane, or they could have just all been in the same space, why did it have to be one guy?
Yes, I have some feelings about this. And the choice made with that just rings hollow to the love established that she has for all of them.

Some new characters are introduced, and that's always great. I do wish there was less J stuff. Overall I have FEELINGS about this part of the story.

Sioban Davis has done it again! I devoured The Warrior Princess forgoing sleep to finish it in the wee hours of the morning. SO worth it!!! Picking up right where The Secret Heir left off, Davis throws the reader right into the action without a time gap and little recap (so if you haven’t read the previous books you will be lost). Alinthia has been taken by the government, and the boys are in the hands of General Arantu. Things couldn’t be worse for them, or could it? It’s Davis so we know it will 😉

Alinthia and Her Protectors
I really felt for Alinthia in this book. Not only is she dealing with being captured, she is separated from her protectors and betrayed by her best friend. She’s grieving and angry, ready for a fight. However her predicament really prevents that. As the reader, it’s interesting to read how Alinthia handles not only her capture, but her separation. Instead of wallowing, which let’s face it most would, she faces it head on with determination. She never doubts her ability to escape and save her protectors which is admirable, if not a little cocky and reckless.

Her protectors on the other hand are at the mercy of Arantu and his daughter. Their storyline is dark and agonizing at times to read. Torture just doesn’t seem like an adequate word for what happens to them, specifically Dane. My heart broke over and over again, and it physically ached while my stomach turned at what I was reading. I’ll admit that even though I finished this book in one sitting, I had to step away a few times and skim a couple because it was too much for me. However Davis captures the raw pain of the characters beautifully.

Betrayal and Power
Most of this book takes place on two worlds: Earth with Alinthia and Alinthia’s home world with her protectors. I was curious as to how this would balance out. This series is billed as a reverse harem romance yet the boys are off planet and separated from Alinthia a majority of the story. My curiosity was satisfied 😀 In the previous books a few chapters are told from the boys’ POV and the same here.

As I already mentioned, Alinthia is dealing with betrayal, but she isn’t the only one. The boys are dealing with their handler’s betrayal and learning that everything they’ve been taught to believe isn’t true. The prophecy was twisted to fit Arantu’s agenda. Everything they thought they knew as fact is now put into question.

And Alinthia….well she is pushed to her breaking point. Her powers are becoming stronger and without the boys there to guide her she has to rely on the one person she doesn’t trust. I love how Davis shows Alinthia’s cunning here. It’s a character trait that was already present, but really fleshed out as Alinthia trains in the government facility.

More Please?
Overall I loved The Warrior Princess….well as much as you can say you love a book filled with torture 😉 Alinthia’s growth, the boys torture, the confrontation with Arantu….it’s all written perfectly with emotion that bleeds off the pages. I cannot wait to read the next installment and see how Davis handles the healing and aftermath of the events in this one. If you enjoy science fiction romance, I highly recommend it!

I voluntarily reviewed an advance, complimentary copy of this book.

What a whirlwind of emotions with this book, holy moly. I really enjoyed this. I love our team so much and it was painful to see everyone separated.

Dane is going through so much and I am really excited for the next one to see how he is going to work through his emotions. That one scene was really painful to hear.

I really enjoyed this book, however, I was confused with the writing style. I see that it is New Adult and I haven't read many of these but I was a little lost. You would have such vulgar writing (which I didn't mind) like swearing and sex scenes but then you would have a scene where a security guard would say "I'm going to kick your butt." I have never heard an adult actually say butt when angry. I'm not sure if it is because it is New Adult but it just felt off to me. At times I felt like it was a children's book but then it would get all sexy and I would feel like it's an Adult novel.

Other than that I feel Siobhan is getting better and better with every novel and I am so happy to be on this journey with her.

Alinthia has been taken by a special, secret Government agency. Her boys have been knocked out and kidnapped and taken by Alandra and her father, General Arantu. And this is where the book begins, with a bang. And it never slows down!! It’s filled with twists and turns, new powers, new friends, old friends, Alinthia’s desperation to find her guys, and the horrible things the guys suffer at the hands of Alandra!

When I read this I went through a myriad of emotions and back again! I felt frustration, tenseness, sadness, laughter, anger, surprise, irritation, happiness, worry and of course feeling all warm and fuzzy. Lol...it’s hard to believe one book could pull all this from you, but this one does. It’s like a crazy rollercoaster ride, like none I’ve never been on. It does get a bit dark at times, not such nice times. *head bowed*

Tori/Alinthia totally rocks as she trains and learns to develop and control her powers more. I love some of the training scenes! Siobhan does a really great job in writing those. I felt like I could picture it so well. With so much in this book I felt that way. I kept thinking wow, I’d love to see this made into a movie!!! The action in it rocks!!

I’m looking forward to the Audible on this!! I’ve listened to it on the first two and it is SO GOOD!! The narrators are top quality!! This one will probably be the best on Audible!!

I love this series!! It’s definitely one of my favorite series and I recommend it highly!! Whether you read it or listen to it on Audible, you will love it!!!

FIVE WARRIOR PRINCESS STARS!!!

Every book by Siobhan keeps me riveted the entire time I'm reading. It's so difficult to put one of her books down. Much like a cheesecake, you end up wanting to devour the whole thing in one sitting!

This series, being a reverse harem story, is one I wasn't sure if I could get into, but I'm happy to say that is not the case. I've become fully invested in Tori's story and in each of her protectors. I'm also not usually a big fan of alien and sci-fi type stories, but every single one of her stories in this genre have had me captivated. I think it's because she keeps the perfect amount of realism and romance balanced with the sci-fi aspects of the stories. You truly find yourself rooting for the couples in the books.

Tori/Alinthia has to face more than she's had to face before in this volume. She's being held captive and being put through tests that no one should have to endure. Meanwhile, she doesn't know what's happened to her guys and that puts more stress on her. There is betrayal of the very highest, and a lot of action going on in this book. At the end, we realize it's only just the beginning. I am going to have a very hard time waiting for the fourth book to come out!
