"You don’t have to be cruel to be strong. You don’t have to be mean to seem brave. You don’t have to look down on others in order to stand tall. Having emotions does not mean you’re weak. It means you’re smart enough to let yourself feel."

What. The. Heck. Just. Happened.

I am utterly speechless at the conclusion of this book. So much has happened in the last 100 pages and I don't know how to feel.

This is the longest one so far in the series, and there was a few parts that I struggled to get through and I really had to push myself to keep reading through the slow bits, but that conclusion made the book for me. I am glad that there is more spice now, and that we get to see more of our lovely couple together and happy for a change. Until everything starts to go to sh*t. I literally cannot wait to finish this series, and I'm so glad that I decided to start it a few months before the last book is released. (07/2024)

If I hear Slade call Auren “baby” one more time, I’m going to barf

This book was wild! A lot happened and it was fun to spend more time with the characters, build the world, and get more back story.

The drama was pretty hot and the spice was on fire. Probably 5/5 on the 🌶️ scale.

I will say, the 🌶️ between Slade and Auren really icked me. Things that Midas said in previous books were basically being said all over again by Slade and it felt so odd and wrong. I’m not sure I actually like their relationship. I like when they hang out but their 🌶️ seems a bit forced and possessive

I actually wish we got a bit more Osrik and Rissa, but I’m sure that will be explored more in the next book

The ending was HOT drama and I’m super looking forward to Gold

I really liked this book. It was nice to see Slade and Auren grow closer and see their relationship evolve. The ending of this book had me gasping, crying, clutching my pearls. It was nice to see more of Slade’s past and more of the world. Auren has been through so much and although she occasionally slips on her journey she is so resilient. The relationship between Slade and Ryatt is also complex and interesting. There are lots of great written characters
and a lot to happen in the impending war.
I’m really interested to see where the series goes from here but I’m invested

Too long and in need of a good edit. Pacing was slow again for most of the book. Enjoyed the multiple POVs though.

Loved that it started right where it ended with the cliffhanger from the last book. I really enjoyed getting to learn more about Slade and Auren’s backgrounds and thought the multiple POVs and flashback chapters were very helpful to getting to the characters heads. Loved the steamy scenes and how they were all different and used within the plot of the story to keep moving it forward not just for spice. The last third of the book’s tense suspense as to what will happen next kept me pushing to get to the end! Ahhhh Another cliffhanger!!! Can’t wait to see what happens next in Gold!!!
