I don't even know where to start. This book was amazing. The trans representation was amazing! It felt so accurate and even got me to realise a few things about myself. The mental health was hard but so well done too.

I would recommend this book to anyone trying to understand what it is like growing up and finding connections as a trans person and/or dealing with a mentally ill parent. It sure did give me some healing and I hope it will do so to other readers.

Apart from that I also love Avi Roque as the narrator. Their voice was perfect to bring us Gael's story.

I picked up this audiobook because I missed Avi Roque’s voice after finishing Cemetery Boys. I did not expect how many tough issues Gael would be dealing with. I really loved how Gael’s thoughts and feelings were explained, even if the way he acted sometimes really frustrated me (but then I remember that he’s a teenager and that is to be expected).

Ad-pr.

I loved this. I reached a point where I couldn't actually put it down, and was reading it walking around the house trying to do life stuff (wasn't very productive). It is so moving and honest. There are so many layers to this coming-of-age story, and I would in moments move from smiling to crying. Bulla will now be an auto-buy author for me. Love, love, love.

I loved this book! The pacing is good, great narration (audiobook), the characters all make sense and feel like their own people. Sometimes in books like this characters end up doing things that don't feel like it fits with their personalities, but you don't get that here. There's a lot of consistency which I enjoyed.
